wooshoofoo
Hi folks, newbie ONI obsessed player here. It's been tough digging out enough abyssalite to really encase my base, but I was thinking, couldn't I build two layers of igneous rock (of which I have an abundance of) for insulated tiles? I'm guessing it's not that useful because it's only additive instead of multiplicative, since both tiles have identical thermal conductivity. However, it's effectively doubling the specific heat, making it take twice as long to heat up? chemie
even insulated sandstone works fine for initial base insulating. (one tile thick). landromat
I use igneous rock for insulation mostly, abyssalyte needed only when you can't allow to lose any heat, like steam turbine chambers etc Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91148-double-igneous-rock-insulation-tiles/#findComment-1039151 Share on other sites
MidnightSteam
One tile thick is what I've been using. Never had to use more. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91148-double-igneous-rock-insulation-tiles/#findComment-1039187 Share on other sites
avc15
.029 W/m*K is really quite a low thermal conductivity, and performs incredibly well especially since insulated doesn't average. Sandstone early and midgame is great, use your abyssalite for more important things (piping hot water etc) until you just have tons of it. Dot your base with wheezeworts until you get a more effective cooling solution.
