0xFADE
The water is deep enough to kill everything except slicksters which can't be killed with water. One filter gate is on 3 and the other is on 6. Connected to a once a day timer that stays on long enough to finish the job. The arm above is set up with automation so it only stays on for 2-3 seconds which makes it to drop the eggs in. It is trying to deliver eggs to that fridge at the top. There is another arm in range of that fridge just in case it somehow succeeds. Originally I sent the eggs in and stored them in fridges inside but that one bug keeps some from hatching while inside the fridge. You could also make it 2x3 since the eggs are being dropped in. In the first picture I later added a door with a not at the top of the ladder so it toggles from the other door so the dupes would not run in and try to grab the eggs on the floor. The side was to kill adult hatches. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/90972-critter-murder-box/ Share on other sites
Miravlix
I love this design and will never use it again. Having a constant flooded warning on screen, meant I missed when something flooded by accident. Mind you trying to create a pump based kill box requires two big pumps (480 power and it takes a full cycle to move the liquid) and your kill room is higher than mine, so this would take more pumps. Wish there was a third option. I can modify the door system to move the water and have the liquid wait above the kill room to avoid the flooded effect, but I really don't like doors that MAGICALLY move, because I connect automation wires to them and if I ignore the unpowered bug and wire them up anyway, this design would be 10+ doors and that is 1200 power, so the pump design is cheaper. My hatch kill room is like yours, my drecko kill room use the pump design and works on slicksters too, but that is not because of the pumps. The thing that make my room work is that I have mesh tiles at the top and bottom, so no where for the critters to escape to, to avoid drowning. Perhaps change the design to have side doors for the automation arms to pick up the meat? Soulwind
It's low-tech and much more random on timing, but what I use is just a small pit (often it's a water lock at the same time). Put a pneumatic door on the wall to stop the critters from coming into the pit. Then when I want to harvest them, I just open the door (could be automated too if you want). Eventually, they will jump into the pit and drown. Hatches are downright suicidal when the door is open.
