MatthewCline Posted March 27, 2018 Share Posted March 27, 2018 When I dig out a block of sandstone, the mass of the mined out sandstone is one half of that before the block was mined. 1) Is there anything that decreases this mass loss? 2) Is the mass loss the same for all material types? Typically if you drip magma into water, you'll get igneous stone at the same mass as the initial magma I believe.
