How to cool down abyssalite ores

Recommended Posts

this is just for graphical solution we all know abyssalite are resilient to temperatures, but sometimes seeing Red colored tile of abyssalite is not pleasing to the eyes so this is probably just a quick solution to turn those red ore to green or blue abyssalite ores

so first you have to make a special compactor specifically for abyssalite (or if you wanna cool other ores you can add them too), then set them to "Sweep only" and a higher priority or have only one compactor for abyssalite.
once you have a compactor for that, you have to sweep 2 specific piles of abyssalite with different temperatures
Those two ores of different temp will reach a thermal equilibrium for example 10c and 30c will become 20c, adding another 10c will become 15c But...
of course the mass will also affect the output temperature so i would advise to sweep ores that has low temp, high mass and high temp, low mass

It's simply combining multiple piles with different temps into one pile with the average temp. If one was super anal about this they could collect all the abyssalite into storage compactors and then selectively empty and refill until all the abyssalite is at the same temp. Also abyssalite does exchange heat, it just does so extremely slowly. So slowly that sometimes the game doesn't bother.

There is (used to be, but I believe it still works) a method to actively change temperature of abyssalite, not just by mixing abyssalite piles.

Build some abyssalite tiles (standard, not insulated) and build a heat conducing pipe (e.g. igneous rock) through them. The tile will exchange heat with the pipe and its contents, though it takes a while. Once I got an abyssalite tile at -190 C because I accidentally built a granite segment of the radiator pipe through abyssalite tile in my oxygen freezer.
