Mencken Posted January 23, 2018 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I kind of assumed they didn't and while setting up tooth traps in the ruins for depth worms some shadow monkeys came by and plunk, plunk, plunk, they all died on the traps. A while later on the above ground I was fighting the chess piece monsters for the nth time and by accident got close to my 5 HS at the base, they started firing and lo and behold it works against them. dinosaur1831 Posted January 23, 2018 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Well, I would expect shadow splumonkeys to be vulnerable to tooth traps and the houndius shootius as any ordinary hostile mob would be. I would expect actual shadow creatures (crawling horror and terrorbeak) to be immune to them however. Didn't know that. nightmare splumonkeys and shadow creatures aren't the same per se - nightmare shadow chess pieces and splumonkeys are affected by tooth traps, tentacles and lureplants - terror beak and crawling horror enemies can be attacked with range and melee weapons, but they are immune to traps and the aforementioned. Having a few of those set up around my base would make accidental/post-boss sanity issues non-existent. Shadow monkeys and shadow chess pieces work differently and are still vulnerable to damage sources that aren't directly from the player. Still would be useful for those shadow pieces tho, that might be my new go-to method for killing them!
