Massage job is confusing

Recommended Posts

When I first started playing the game, I ticked and unticked various jobs depending on how good my dupes were at it.

Later, I found myself wondering why some very stressed out dupes weren't using the massage table. I thought it was a bug, and tried rebuilding the tables etc. Only later did I find that those dupes had the massage "job" unticked, and as such were refusing to take massage.

I assumed that the massage job was them actually giving a massage, not simply using the (autonomous) massage table.

So this can be quite confusing, maybe it's best to remove "Massage" from the jobs list altogether, as you'd probably always want all your dupes to take massages when needed (you can always raise the %), or somehow categorise this differently so it's not listed as a "job".

No. It is very usefull how it is right now. Same applies to the food list. Especially at the beginning of your colony, you might want to prioritize those dupes who can harm your colony when stressed - Binge eaters and destructive stress responses are the worst. Hence they always have top priority in my colonies - May eat luxury food and use massage tables. My ugly cryiers are often not allowed to use a massage table at the start. They do the smallest damage and even deliver some water. That way i also reduce the massage table utilization. ;)

I can see how it's useful (although I've never used it myself), but the massage "job" still doesn't belong in the jobs menu. It would be pretty useful to have a different place, where you could restrict expensive things that relieve stress. Maybe a "relax" menu? Would be pretty useful as the same UI as jobs, just for different things. i.e. A checkbox for massages, each type of food, and any future things that might go in the game. (Duplicant table-tennis?)
