The Miscellaneous Tips and Tricks Thread

I thought it could be helpful to share small little tips and tricks that otherwise aren't worth making a thread for individually. Feel free to share your own too!

Don't attack petrified enemies or turtles on their backs. It might be tempting to use your aoe on them, but it's more useful to leave them in a state that they can't harm anyone.

Battle standards should be priority #1. If you see a glowing circle around an enemy's feet that means there's a battle standard still around. Go after it ranged attackers!

If you're using a ranged weapon then be aware of your surroundings. Move to a safer location if needed. There's really no point in standing directly next to an enemy when you can attack at a distance. I've seen a lot of people just keep attacking even when a group of enemies are approaching them.

If you're playing as Maxwell or Wickerbottom only smack enemies with your book when you see a tank has agro on the enemy. It doesn't do much damage anyway, so keeping yourself safe is more of a priority then attacking. This goes double for Maxwell.

If you're low on health then don't be afraid to back off. You're more useful to the team alive then you are dead. Although this can be difficult if you're the only tank in your team.

Focus fire. Even if a turtle hides in it's shell keep targeting it. It want's you to switch to a new target. So don't do it. It's kinda annoying having more then one of these spinning around the arena.

When you reach the final boss, spread out. Many of his attacks hit multiple people so if everyone keeps their distance from each other you're lowering the amount of damage your party takes.

If you're playing as the healer and having trouble coordinating your sleeps on the final boss, I find it can help a lot to give a signal just before you place the heal. I usually type "now" in chat to let everyone know it's nap time.

Remember that darts count as physical damage. So those Nox helmets can benefit you guys too.

You can interrupt a spinning turtle with a well timed special attack with the hammer, pike, molten darts, fire staff and even Lucy. WX can even interrupt them just by getting hit as well.

Try and draw agro on enemies that killed someone. That way someone can safely go and revive them.

If you're using the fire staff against the final boss then try to save your special attack for when the pigs show up. You should be able to get 2-3 meteors off before you should start thinking about saving it. Group them all up in a heal, and just as it's about to wear off, BOOM! Most of them are dead, or at least very low on health.

If you are playing DPS you can cancel your attack animations to double your effective fire rate by quickly switching between targets using your mouse. Don’t do this with Maxwell though as you need to focus fire on one enemy for his shadow dualists to proc.

Collect weapons dropped on the ground together neatly and juggle them for their specials to unload specials of the discarded weapons onto a single target and hasten the process of killing it off especially if the entire team is focusing on it. For example you just used your hammer to break the Snortoise out of its shell, it starts spinning, pick up another hammer and interrupt it with that already charged up special. Goes double for dart users because there's usually a few darts laying on the ground uselessly by Boarrior round.

Juggle the cooldown tiara AND the healing output hat as healer to completely maximize your healing. Wear the tiara til the staff goes off cooldown, then wear the output hat and cast the heal, then back to the tiara. This can get a little tedious and counterintuitive later on with how mobile the Boarrior gets or even with a group of scorpions chasing you, so if the items are out of range or he's literally standing on it, feel free to just abandon this strategy.

Stay the hell away during the second Boarrior phase as healer. While you can add to the DPS of the team and get the battle with over faster joining in the battle, you put the most essential part of the team keeping everyone, including tanks and dart users alike alive, at risk of being crippled and lost. You can also take this chance to visibly signal your heal is ready in chat. You definitely can join in regardless, especially if you're Wickerbottom for her perk, but once down to half HP, regardless of character, sit it the heck out and leave it to the actual fighters til you can heal up.

Actually, no, this is useless because the bonus is only at cast.

And even if it wasn't, on most servers somebody's just going to swipe the tiara or woven garland.  Yes, even though they use darts.  Really, not being able to juggle them is a blessing in disguise; less micro-management and fewer ways for your team to screw up.

How does one get into these fabled password secured servers I have heard about, where people actually know what they're doing?

The most effective way to improve ranged DPS is using some tricks to avoid attack backswing.

there are two already-known ways to do that.

One is Pressing F key for continuous attack. And when you see(or feel) the missile comes out, then use WASD key or your mouse left-click to the ground nearby you, just move a little bit your character in a very short period of time. Repeat the process above, find a certain rhythm of moving click and you will find your character can attack really fast. This method can be only manipulated on staff weapons.

Another one is using your mouse or tablet pen left-click 2 or more enemy targets by sequence and loop. Just switch target and attack them as quickly as you can by catching your attack time. This method can be only manipulated on both staff weapons and dart weapons.

Have fun guys~
