Lumina
It would be nice if we can got the ability to destroy ruins. Even if it require a specific search. - First because sometimes they prevent me to build ladders or others stuff right when i want - Second, destroying some part of the ruin could give you plastic or others rare materials, for example. This could create interesting choice. Do i search the improved cot search since destroying that ruin gave me enough plastic to make some beds ? Or do i prefer making the long research that will allows me to make my own plastic first ? Depending of the ruins i found and the difficulty to reach crude oil, i could make different choices in different games.
GreatGameDota
You can destroy the tiles with water pressure but that probably isn't worth the effort lol

Researches are not a hard wall right now as you can shuffle a +10 learning starting dupe and have all of them very quickly in less than 20 cycles
The Plum Gate
Furniture in the ruins is currently made of nutronium... walls are made of ceramics. Occasionally, you can deconstruct mesh, insulated tiles or electrical wiring.

Aye, and if it gets flooded, you get spammed destruction alerts for the rest of your playthrough

Yes, it's why we can't destruct them at the moment.
Executive_Lurker
I had a ruin spawn super close to my base and was planning on getting the plastic to make niceties before I find oil. I am sad now....
NurdRage
I'd be okay with indestructible ruins if they could be repurposed for something. Make them useful like how geysers are useful. Now the ruins don't have to produce anything like geysers. But doing something would be great. Maybe the vending machine could hacked and serve as a super fridge capable of storing 1000kg of food for the same power requirement. The computer consoles, if powered back up, could give us access to a special Tier 4 Tech Tree that cannot be accessed by Dupe-made equipment. Maybe that's where the ultra-technologies like nuclear reactors are kept. The neuro device might be repurposed to accelerate learning. (Giving bonuses is very powerful as-is. Probably shouldn't be able to reuse that feature yet). accelerated learning would be great for bringing up new level 5 dupes up to speed when old dupes are zipping around at level 50. Heck some of the ruins look like swimming pools. Maybe reuse them for stress relief like the massage tables? That sort of thing. I'd build my base around the ruins if they could be reused/repurposed. Destroying them wouldn't even cross my mind in that case.

Storage area : North of my base : I know they're still unfinished - but honestly, remove them until they have a purpose imo, then release them as their own special "Ancients Update", with a wholly revitalised look/planning/feel and point. Currently it strikes me like they were thrown in just to say "hey we're still doing something guys - look, we made a fruit bowl!"
NurdRage
Sorry if i came off sounding like i wanted to ruins kept as-is. I really want to emphasize the conditional i put in: I'd build my base around the ruins IF they could be reused/repurposed. As is, i want to ruins gone too. But yes, with a real purpose they will probably be more attractive.
386181_1452784080
The topic I raised in the Suggestions but also here will write a few words. Ruins are nowadays only a decoration of the map, the fact would be useful to use them effectively, but in my main would be enough to allow these objects to transfer to other convenient places. Change cabinets into storerooms, tables in places to eat and so on, of course, this applies mainly to ornamental elements.
