Frog Rain

Recommended Posts

I'm not being serious about the weather pain thing, hence the large text. I was making a joke on how forum threads always stay active for much longer than they need to, even though the question is usually answered really quickly. Then it's just a bunch of inexperienced players throwing their bad strategies out there.
Tooth traps are a waste, trying to actually fight them with Abigail is pointlessly hard, using a tall fort (if you world even has one) is incredibly risky since tall birds are hostile to you too... Just use normal traps or a Goose, the strategies people have been using since frog rain came to RoG and DST respectively.

Ok, this is new to me, large text means that something isn't serious ? How strange.

Same same, didn't know that. Also tooth traps aren't a waste when you have all that hound's teeth and no purpose for it. That's just my opinion. I think that lureplants would help with the frog rain.

Beefalo are probably the easiest method to do, especially if you have a bush hat. If you're feeling ballsy as hell tho, you could try taking them on yourself (almost guaranteeing death, but hey, at least you died fighting).

Yeah I just lead them to one of my beefalo herds, that is the cheapest way. I also set traps at my base to catch any frog ninjas at night.

Okay, this is kind of off topic, but should I use hound's tooth for tooth traps or a sewing kit? And are they easy enough to get that I could get a vargling with it?

You can use the hound's teeth for sewing kit. You only need 2 hound's teeth. Usually 1 or 2 sewing kit should last you a while. I do that all the time to repair stuff like tam o shanter. You would probably use a small portion of the hound's teeth to make sewing kit. It's probably just me, but I always get so many hound's teeth during hound attacks and hunting for tan o shanter in winter. I would usually just use the remaining supply for tooth traps.

Got it.

If you use a beefalo herd, make sure its a medium or larger sized one.  A heavy frog rain can and will wipe out a small herd (ask me how I know <g>).

Also, frogs will attack the lure plant when you plant it, killing it before the eyeplants can spawn, so you would need to have one already established.  They are a good distraction,  but not the most effective.

I always plant lure plants near the base in case of frog rain. When frog rain starts, i run out of the base, most to the near beefalo herd. When it stops, I run back to the base and the eyes of the lure plants making most of the work, so i can do things in the camp without worrying.

Every time frog rain occurs I get slightly annoyed as I have to stop what I was doing in base and run over to the nearby beefalo herd, and watch the chaos unfold. I then spend the next little bit using the drying racks to make a bunch of jerky to last all of summer and fall.

In my third spring of my current world I had 2-3 days of frog rain and emded up trading moat of it to Pig King (as small jerky about to spoil). I've had 3 chests full of gold ever since.

Why is this bad advice? Lureplants with the eyeballs take frog aggro and die from frog attacks before digesting much meat, if any. Combined with traps, I thought this was pretty efficient?
