Daniel86268
It's still working for me, and it should still work. Does the error still persist? Maybe Steam just had some downtime and is available again.
Arash70
1-Backup the game Creating Backup Files Right-click the game in the Library section Select Backup game files... Check the boxes for any other games to backup at this time Click Next > Browse to the folder where you wish to create the backup files (the files will be stored in c:\program files\steam\Backups by default) and click Next > Select the Backup file name and set the File size for the media you plan to use. Click Next > to begin the backup process. Once complete, choose Open backup folder to move or burn copies of the backup files 2-Reinstall steam you can download latest steamclient here and reinstall it: http://store.steampowered.com/about/ 3-Restore the game Restoring from Backup Files Install Steam and log in to the correct Steam account (see Installing Steam for further instructions) Launch Steam Click on "Steam" in the upper left corner of the Steam application Select "Backup and restore games..." Select "Restore a previous backup" Browse to the location of the game's backup files Continue through the Steam windows to install the necessary games. I guess your steamclient is faulty (it might be outdated?) or maybe your antivirus/antimalware program is preventing the game from running

Only thing OP needs to do is use Task Manager and close Steam completely. Steam is one of those programs that doesn't necessarly close when you press the X button at the top, it resides in the background. Using Task Manager shuts it down completely, and reopening does the trick for me whenever that occurs. If that still didn't work then I'd use @Arash70's idea. JanH
In addition to @Arash70and @StarmanNess' troubleshooting steps, you may also contact Steam Support directly as they will be able to promptly provide you with technical support with Steam Client-related issues.
