Can I earn Skins offline?

Recommended Posts

So, here's the thing...the only internet I have is on my phone, and the closest internet my laptop can access is at a library which is somewhat slow and isn't open for long.

The obvious question would be if skins can be earned offline, or would I be required to be online to get them? I very much enjoyed how the Shadow sets looked, and thought it would be a shame to lose out on these.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

If you could use your phone to get internet connection on your computer, you COULD open an online world and make it passworded. That way you can still play and get/use skins.

If your phone doesn't support personal hotspots then I guess you're all out of luck...

@Thieverpedia, make a router out of your phone if it has a stable connection (do be aware your mobile transfer will grow if you play DST on it). Go to Settings => Connections => Mobile Hotspot & Tethering and turn Mobile Hotspot on. Clicking on it instead of flipping the switch icon will let you check what password your network will have. From then on, you just add it like any other new network. I cannot guarantee how well (or how badly) DST will run (I guess even a small one-sharded world would lag, wholly depends on your devices though), but you will be able to at least use connection-requiring stuff on the computer.

Unfortunately, I'm on a Straight Talk plan, and these phones don't have that option. I'll just go to the library when I have the time, I guess. Still doesn't make sense that the skins I already have aren't stored in a steam folder for offline use...
