plumbing!

Recommended Posts

heres my attached screen pic of what my shower toilet system is set up as

BUT IT DOESNT UTILIZE ALL THE PIPES AND ITS JUST POURING OUT DIRTY WATER WHEN THEY SHOWER?????

anyone have a link or screenshot of a correct closed loop plumbing system>?

please and thank you i know im doing something wrong here....

Why are you dumping the dirty water from the shower into your clean water?
Remove that vent and it should be fine (if you don't mind your toilet chores being canceled from dirty water passing its output).

You are dumping the used water back into the reservoir and have the pump pumping from the outtake of the purifier remove that and make the pump go to the intake of the purifier only.

I think the OP wants to use the purifier at the same time as the pump maybe ?

But yes, as Regirn rightly said, I think you need to firstly get rid of the liquid vent below your "OUT" line. Maybe also consider adding a water filter to your pump to only allow pure water into the main piping (the line leading into the showers/toilets). Your water filters secondary output could then dump any polluted water through a separate pipework to wherever you want stinky water to go :)

lavatories use 5l, produce 11.66l, per use cant close loop

showers use 45kg so 5 blobs

you need 5-6 long input/output per use, better each shower with a purifier, or 9-18 output length zigzag so wont depend on sand and power, 1 free to move water

use L shape connecting each pipe so its secondary line or second shower blocks other line

You're right about the output amounts, I had completely forgotten that they changed it in TU. Most of my bases focus on using the old outhouses for easy fertilizer :)

However, OP does have the purifier in position - if he toggles the pump off unless the system needs refilling (~70 tiles worth of pipes should take a while to empty itself) it's a working system ;)

Try not to run any pipes over several inputs or outputs.

how the hell are you past 400 days???? i either rage reset my colony by the 20 cycle mark...

also; so is the pump or vent not necessary if i just use the filters?

the idea was:

  1. set up pump
  2. have a closed reservoir for water supply
  3.  have a vent that dumps into the supply
  4. the water pump would take the supply into the filter
  5. the filter will cleanse and disperse the water into the toilets and showers
  6. then the used water would empty into the vent
  7. cycle repeats

so was the vent not necessary? how long do i need the pump before the system effectively can run as a closed loop?

The toilets will be adding water into the system so a closed system would back up. Should be pumping clean water into the system while venting the output from the filter into the reservoir.

so how does the plumbing work? which part of the pump goes into the filter? which part of the vent? is the white part of the pump go into the white part of the filter or the green?

YES! i mean if i can just to have a whole system i guess, i wanted to have the pump (felt like it was needed?)

if not how long until i dont need it?

so i need one resvoir of clean water and one empty one for discharges? then link the purifier to the dirty one?

do you have a diagram possible please?

so i should replicate this system?

where would i have the water for initial input?

since i want three of each is 2 filters neccessary?

that system only looks like 3 not fully working showers to me. add valves after each shower set to >1000g/2 or you will have incomplete showers every time. no dupe wants to stand in there future lunch

how does one utilize valves

325BCF929684327CFCB84669069002907865C296the valves must be placed on a broken pipe then attached there should be a small gap between the pipes the valve itself is the link if you place the valve directly on the pipe as it  is it will just transfer havlf the fluid along the old path and half to the valveFD4ED5D8AEDD3028538915E87815C604DD6468BA

the top valve is correctly placed the bottom is not

excuse my french, how the **** are you over 500 days teach me your ways

lol don't rush don't take too many dupes you can supply air pressure for.  nothing about your base cant be rearrange later
(deconstruct first not build over for resources reclamation). a full vent is a happy vent means your room is full of air.

low pressure leads to high heat takes less energy to heat 300g than 2000g

and never be afraid of  starting over and using what you have leaned in the last bunch and experiment trial and error are my 2 favorite teachers.

oh and don't forget to sweep all that negative  décor

most compact setup i can think of, some decor wont hurt

1. valves make 10kg pockets, so as pipe ends, i dont see why would you need valves, but as turkoiz setup notice no outputs run trough each other, his is still wrong. dupe starts shower, 45kg comes out, next shower dupe starts after, blocks output. first shower stops.no + or T shape pipes with 2 pumps , L or F shape good, always set a main pipe and then connect secondary

2. you got 45kg outputs thats 4.5 pipes/blocks, 2x4.5 is 9 thats 2 showers.  on 4.5 next shower can stop after 0.5 in short pipe, in 9 stops at 9

3shower needs water, outputs water. in a closed loop, clean water depends on sand/power so you need at least 9 pipes so water can go out even if purifier stops.

4inputs doesnt matter as long as water comes, outputs must fit to complete showers

5 purifier on left, shower right, seems to be better looking to have exactly 9 output

6purifier never between 2 showers, or will be messy clockwise ant counterclockwise pipes

7purifier only using sand/power only when has dirty water, if you got 2 showers for 1 purifier, uses same amount sand/power as 2 purifiers for same number of showers. so as long as space doesnt matter have each shower separate purifier.

8 you got x dupes, you need x*45kg water output. for 10 you need 450, for odd numbers round up, 9*45is 405, must be dividable by 10(max water pressure). so you prepare 1 shower daily for dupes. i think they step in dirty water they start again so dont have everybody digging, mop up with a miner instantly, keep inside base clean.

9 to kickstart shower, best use a biodistillery(pumps initial dirty water  for purifier), use a valve for exact 90liters of water so 9 long pipes

10 toilets take 5l water in but 11.67 out, this fills a closed loop, or you need long pipe or vent out, or use a fertilizer maker instead of purifier.1 block of water 1024 liter water, thats 200 toilet uses, they need daily 1 use exept small bladder 1.8? or diahhrea 4-5 daily, get a small clean water pool for toilet or same biodistillery to purifier then pile up like 200kg water, will do it for a while.

11 valves set on 0 still push water in pipe

12 if you dont have outhouse then they dont wake up from full bladder so you need lavatory very close to beds. they also forgot to breath going to toilet, have 1 lavatory in each biome. or each corner of base. have shower closer where higher chance of stepping in polluted water.

13 try to close off any dirty water or showers, if they deliver something from below water they get grimy, take shower, infinite loop.
