Should DST have more game modes for challenge?

Do you think there should be more game modes to challange or compete?

I agree with DST is better with cooperative teamplay and trying to survive as long as possible. Nevertheless, I think there should be more game modes beyond and different from current modes.(endless, survival, wilderness)

They should be more like time limited, objective-focused, should have individual or team purposes. As a  example, I can give a user mod "Battle Royale" which isn't active currently. I didn't play that mod but it seems like "PvP Arena" where weapons are dropped and players trying pvp and survive. The next I can suggest is "Hunger Games" which I watched on a streamer. Group of players trying to survive in very hard conditons, minimized all resources. 
As you guess last survivors  win game. Examples are clear, these type of modes are also suitable for play publicly. Making these kind of modes official can expand variety too.

What are your opinions about these? Should these kinds of should to be or not? 
Do you have other suggestions for game modes?

I don't want to be a spoiler here but having challege modes isn't want DST is about or not really in that way

The would is a "sandbox" so its up to players to do with it at it's leisure

If you need a character to force you to play a certain way well I'm sure there is a mod for that.

So DST certainly has the tools for you to do whatever "challege" you want but excuteing it in a stable manner may be diffcult as the game is still slave to RNG.

Though you could use the console or get custom maps I know those use to be popular don't know if it would work with how DST is set up though being server based and all.

All equally broken and not worth playing at all (only half-joking here).

Because of bad newbie support, who wants to play these modes? And even then, you probably wouldn't want to play these as long as the default settings. Or at least that's why I'm guessing default setting worlds are usually everywhere instead of some more new and exciting worlds.

Hell, an all random preset would be awesome, I bet!

Just wish we could world-hop and change world settings as we hop for the game to be more fun in that sense... Else, what's the point of world settings and presets in the first place?

I have custom modes with rules linked to in the description and it suits us just fine. PillowKitty has a custom map a la The Archipelago. It is good, though quite unbalanced (resources really spawn in faraway locations, so unless you are Willow, you pretty certainly won't get grass for a torch on the first night. Generally, mods, the console and humanoid creativity would be all you need.

These sound a bit contradicting.

Sure, challenge modes can be added with mods, but I don't see any issue with the devs throwing some into the base game too. It doesn't hurt anyone (Well, I mean it can... but only ingame.) and it gives experienced players something more to do.

Well I mean like not like modes like capture the flag I'm find with more special world presets just not like party game modes.

Even if we had party gamemodes like that then I don't see a problem with them. I'm not a fan of them myself, but it's easy enough to avoid servers that might use them.

Personally, I'd like a gamemode that restricts resurrection to traditional DS methods (and reverts effigies and lifegiving amulets back to their old functionality).

I would honestly like that I hate the ghost mecanic its not bad but sense I mostly play by myself I always have to play beat the timer and at the point I might as well just use rollback but if I do that Death loses its impact.

Yup. That's what I meant. And the best part is: if people don't like it then they don't have to use it/play on servers with it.
