It's really frustrating when you try to join public games and you get kicked or banned immediately in every one you go to before you even get to play.

If you want to pick and choose who comes in, set a password.

If you want to play alone, set the player count to 1.

It's a lot easier and less rude.

Setting it to Local Only also works.

I tend to forget to set my world to Alone mode when I'm doing tests, but I like seeing players join in and confused why the world is completely empty.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure there's an option to allow only Steam group members or friends in your server.

Playing with absolute newbies makes me suffer morally. If you want specific type of men to join (e,g, a person who would nicely greet you on join) — kicking is the only way to go.

Saying hello right after joining actually reduce my kick rate from 60% or 40%, You should try that

There is. You link your group by the ID you see on Edit Group Profile. However, you needn't set it to members only. My servers typically are just linked to the group to provide easy access to the FAQ.

Because only about 1% of players bothers with rrading the server description, duh.
