Anyone willing to revive/update old mods?

There's quite a few mods that people enjoy, that are just outdated, or have issues, or just need to be rewritten.

A few mods I'd like to be updated from people who no longer mod are..

I would be interested in the advanced farming mod.
But in the message you linked from afro, he writes that he will keep the mods compatible to the game. So .. maybe just wait for his fixes ?

Currently, and for a while now, a lot of his mods just aren't working at all. So it's safe to say he's not updating them in any way

lol, I just saw in comments of the mod, that Deja Vu made a fork of this mod (it is funny, because Deja Vu also quit modding :D)
But I guess Deja Vu might be more willing to fix it, if it is not working:

I've never seen his mods. I'll take a look. No telling if this mod works still since the last update though. Could have the same issues

Personally I had help fixing Tweak Those Tools, which is up on the workshop again "Tweak Those Tools Re-Tweaked!" http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=823711339

 

Just give credit where it's due and upload it on the workshop as well as the base files here on the forums. If it really is fixed people will be happy to see it again

so did you tried the fixed version from Deja Vu? Had it really the same bug?
You really should have reported the bug at Deja Vus thread and let him fix the bug, instead of making a third fork (only if he deny to fix it)

I don't know the specific circumstances regarding these mods specifically, so have the authors of these mods actually given permission for someone else to maintain them?

Just curious as there are cases where an author does not wish their content be re-released by another author.  I've seen people make assumptions quite often in other modding communities, without actually having permission.  Since I didn't see permission granted as part of the discussion so far, I figured I'd bring this up.

If you see i dont change anything about author, just publish in my account but the mod still say Afro  in my case

The last time this mod was updated was May 16 and since then has not worked on it.
It also seems to be very much broken, looking at the comments, does someone know anything?

It honestly doesn't matter if you give credit to the author.  If you do not actually have their permission to republish their intellectual property, then you aren't allowed to do so.  This is not only law, but also basic decency.

So unless you actually have written permission to update mods, I suggest not doing so.

so just allow the mod dead? ok Ecu, so im not going to work in revive another good moods because the author isnt connect like one year, so i think thats why modder or codder finally lost interest, thx for your suggestion Ecu i will be not working more in this.

Unfortunately, that is indeed what you would have to do.  You could implement the same idea yourself, but using their assets and code would require their permission.  Since you do not have that, it would be best that you create your own mod that provides the experience you are interested in.

My real interest is to update all mods that actually doesnt work and the author isnt connect again, Im good codder but im not artist, and i m just fixing all errors that users report almost one year ago. So sad because i actually added afro, ask in his mod but nobody ask.

 

And tell me if i do the same with my arts isnt the same fault? because  im copying his idea?

You can have the same generalized idea, but you would have to implement it your own way, with your own art.

Alternatively, you could work to get ahold of the original author and get permission to use their content and maintain their mod.

I think you've misunderstood my advice.  I don't think it is a bad idea to revive a mod concept, once the author is no longer maintaining it.  Just that it is poor to use their art and code to do so (and may even be a breach of copyright, punishable by law).

Well Im not artist so i can do anything "good". Im just a good coder

@trompetin17 It's better to leave dead mods alone, you don't want the original publishers to come back after a couple years to sue you for fixing their broken mod instead of thanking you!
