Myself49
I have an idea on how to make Mandrakes a renewable resource while keeping their rarity. Make Mandrakes work like normal vegetables, that is that you get a seed when you feed one to a bird. Also maybe make them coughable by Catcoons. Very rare chance ofc. And how to make them farmable but still very rare and difficult to obtain in large quantities? Make them only be able to grow during a full moon. That way you can always make a Pan Flute or Mandrake Soup more than 5 times during the game while it won't become something you can just eat all the time. Remember that birds sleep during night so you won't be able to mass produce them during one night by applying manure and feeding them to a bird instantly. It will take in game months to be able to get enough seeds to make a reliable large scale farm. Ecu
I'm torn on this one. I kind of like Mandrakes to be the kind of thing you can only get a few of each session and have to save them for important situations. On the other hand, I do understand that endless play is a thing. I don't really feel the game should be balanced around endless play, however, and as such any method to renew these should probably be based off some form of resetting disaster that causes an upstart to your survival, but at the same time causes these to respawn in various locations. mathem99
Not many people know this but: If your Pan Flute has one use left (10%) you can use the Deconstruction Staff to get back the mandrake, the rope, and few cut reeds. So you can easily craft a new one with full durability (100%)! Sinister_Fang
Personally, I'd like mandrakes to be renewable via something like the world regeneration. Maybe after about 20 days or so a mandrake would spawn in a random part of the world if there's not a certain amount in the world already. This would give ya a reason to go out and explore the world even after you've completed your map. Pan flute is quite powerful, I don't think you should be able to acquire mandrakes regularly just by waiting for them to respawn like that. I am not completely opposed to some method of regeneration, but it should likely be tied to some form of disaster (so there is a loss to the player), rather than just periodic resets. Scoobie101
I mean, they gave us renewable marble in the form of gardening, so why not mandrakes too? Maybe make getting them a bit more grindy though, like needing to feed it to a caged canary and only being able to pluck the newly grown ones out of the ground if you're wearing earmuffs or something to that affect. I think it has potential. :3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/71773-renewable-mandrakes/#findComment-839575 Share on other sites
