B4stion
I've tried going into the caves several times since they were added to DST, but everytime it seems like there is something seriously wrong with them. I wonder around the caves for hours and all I find are a few bats, a couple spider mounds, and the occasional rock lobster. When I played in single player Don't Starve I remember the caves being full of interesting things, and it was pretty easy to find set pieces and entrances to the ruins. Did some of the single player content for caves not make it to DST, or is it just extremely rare and I haven't looked hard enough? Is there another reason why I'm finding nothing? Rellimarual
That's odd. I much prefer the DST caves to the single-player ones. There are more ponds, and in some places groups of ponds, which makes for a good base/small jerky galore. The mushtree forests look amazing and the light bulbs are more widely distributed. However, they *are* bigger, so you have to explore a lot and often get a sense of how the new biomes are configured to find the Ruins. BiddoBams
Caves in DST are much bigger because, well, there's only one cave apposed to DS having multiple smaller caves. They were denser. Of course now that DST can only have one cave at a time, they had to make them bigger, making them less dense! Also, the ruins are also bolted onto the caves now instead of being their own layer which I believe is also bigger. Tree45
I've yet to find a ruins and done quite a bit of caving on various worlds. Is there an easier way to find them? Are they always bordering a certain type of other biome? I can faintly recall seeing a concept map, showing that the ruins are usually in the center of the cave system. Rellimarual
That doesn't match my experience. Look for muddy turf fields with light bulb plants and, usually, slurtle mounds. When you spot a concentration of cave ponds, you're getting close and you'll start to see slurpers and monkeys, as well as knobby pillars. Generally, ruins can be entered from one point to the side of the map. Honestly if AG was revivable it would solve a lot of issues. You would be able to farm horns, thulecite, and the ruins gems as well as more stuff from his death chest. Rellimarual
You're right. Sadly, the only Ruins I've succeeded in clearing is in a solo game where, it turned out, the labyrinth never spawned, so I'd forgotten about him.
