Frosty_Mentos
Seasons usually have the same patterns and same temperatures and such and nothing really new happens, I have an idea that it would spice things up. Seasons need something new for surviving, and it should be a kinda lategame things and should all the new hard survival events starting from 3rd or 4th ongoing game season (or it could happen from a certain day). I suggest challenge for autumn - big winds, Winter - super cold and super snowy, Spring - lots of lightning and rain, summer - super hot and more smoldering. A bit of inspiration from SW (sorry dont judge me ;-;), which might make it more interesting to mix things up. Those periods shouldn't last long, but for some time to test endgame survival skills. If it shouldn't be an actual part of the main part of the game, then I would love to have it as an option for expert mode or something. I guess just to make seasons harder might be not enough, but I will leave this topic here as an idea and let the madness of a discussion start. Wexton
I think that this was something that the devs said that they wanted to make? Something about variations on the seasons. I don't really know but it would definitly be really cool. Maybe something like pines loosing their leaves on autumn, making them drop less seeds like with birch on winter. Maybe some kind of plants overgrowing during spring, affecting your buildings? maybe heat waves during summer that makes the character walk like when they are being affected by a mandrake/panflaute/bearger yawn if they don't have any protection? those are all the ideas i could come out with so far,but i really hope something like this gets added into the game. The ideas are nice, but the pine one makes no sense, no offense lol, I don't think that they ever drop their "leaves" unless during dry seasons (not referring SW) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/71410-another-idea-to-spice-things-up-probably-for-experts/#findComment-833395 Share on other sites

Leaf is singular, leaves is plural. Arlesienne
Larch trees are the only kind of coniferous trees which shed their leaves (or needles). This could be a perfect stand-in for thermal measurers, because shortly after they shed them, there's a decisive temperature drop. They are rather endemic though. Variations for season is a good idea (i think that klei mentionned it before), because you need to adapt. But, for example, i don't think that more smoldering in summer will be fun. At the moment, smoldering is not fun for some people because it could destroy large portions of the world, so not really more challenge, but less fun. (You could turtle in your base and just wait for end of summer, it's not fun, but not challenging either). What i would like : - Wet snow in winter : it's cold and you gain wetness, so you could becore insane more quickly or frozen more quickly. But it not happen all the time, it's just a potential risk. - Hail in autumn, will destroy the farm crop, and cold the temperature a lot. It could be a challenge if during a season, an event could happen that will make some source food less reliable. For example, you could have a "wild beast" event in summer : during this time, koalefant track will lead to hound or the special warg/ewecus. Or a "dried pond" phase, when you can still fish but with more risk/something. Mole could disappears some days, pigs could have days when they will be hostile to you, .... So you will harder time to obtain food for some source and you will have to adapt and diversify strategy. Just some examples, but just adding cold/wetness/hot/lightning could be more boring than challenging.
