Set Peice Chest?

Recommended Posts

So I was playing a world recently and I came across this set piece. It was the beefalo ranch one with the walls and chest. So i've had bad past experiences with this little chest. Long story short, it explodes into flames when you open it, effectively burning down the whole ranch. So now I'm wondering, is there anyway to get rid of it without burning everything down? I'm looking to make the ranch into a little second base. Me and my friend tried hammering it in a past world but.... it still exploded. I have no idea how to get rid of it... Can someone please help?

Break the walls that are right next to the chest. Then burn the chest with a Torch/Firestaff. Whatever is in it (Which usually is a Firestaff and some Gunpowder and ash), it will come out after the chest gets burned. But you should not hammer it down after burning it or trap/curse will be unleased.

This also works on those chest found in ruins, just BURN IT! and you'll be fine. the only difference is that those chest leave nothing behind from themselves, So it won't bother u and u'll enjoy the loot without slightest mental harm.

I tried to outsmart this chest once... After clearing all the loot in the farm area and hammering some of the walls to stop the fire spreading, I opened the chest. Turns out I should have cleared more of the walls, the trap set one on fire... Then I went to hammer a new gap a little ways down the wall, but turns out the fire staff auto equipped without me realizing so I just set the rest of the walls on fire...

Happened similarly to me once, though what snagged me was some seeds a crow plopped down to bridge the gap while I was collecting the nearby grass and not paying attention.

Ahaha... It's moments like this that cause me to both hate and love this game at the same time.

I remember the first time I found this set piece. "Hey, a chest! I wonder if it has any free stuff in it." Let's just say that I panicked and made the mistake of running into the walls to get away from the fire.

Just ask yourself...

What would Willow do?...

...and BURN IT! BURN IT WITH FIRE!

Removing parts of walls would work too (singing you at the explosion anyway), same with building a flingo beforehand or extinguishing it with an ice staff/balloons, but what fun is that?

Although I have never seen this set piece in DST, I have been fooled by this chest more times than I like to admit.

One time though, it didn't catch fire. I couldn't believe my eyes. Was it decieving me? Was I about to be exposed to the most horrid of fires?

I died to a fricking pug not long after...
