Guide to fight against lag

So upon doing some reseach, I think I may have found the solution. Here it is:

Tick Rate (Host):

This is the thing that worked amazing for me, making the game hella smooth for me even when every single server was unplayable.

It's very simple but I will explain first:

Don't Starve Together uses by default a tick rate of 15. I think the values are 10, 15, 30 and 60.

So with some experimenting with friends these were the results:

15: Unplayable.

30: Smooth, clients were stuck in the place where they are except for the host.

60: Smooth, playable.

So I suggest 60 myself, but keep in mind these things: This setting increases CPU and Bandwith usage, but it shouldn't do much.

To make this change, go to your DoNotStarveTogether folder, I know that in Windows but probably not for other Operative Systems, it is located in My Documents, then Klei, then DoNotStarveTogether.

Now open client.ini with the text file reading software of your preference, add this:

[network]
tick_rate = 60

After doing that, save the file and close it. Note that Don't Starve Together must be closed while doing this or the game will override this file. You can launch Don't Starve Together again after doing so. Keep in mind that this is for the host only.

Mods (Host), Settings (Client) & The Host's Map:

I'm not too sure about this yet, but I have heard that having the Minimap mod as the host causes lag fo the client the more explored areas though, this is not the owner's fault though. It happens with the map while it is open as well, but the minimap mod has it open always. Again, I'm not sure yet, but I'm adding this here just in case.

You may as well get Less Lags from the workshop by clicking subscribe and that's it. It's a prefab cleaner, prefabs are basically items laying on the ground and such. Note that it also makes some animals such as birds and bunnies eat some resources. But it's probably worth it.

Clients may want to go to their options in-game and turn Lag Compensation to None. This setting makes it so you see what the host is seeing. If you don't understand, with predictive lag compensation, you could be moving eveywhere, but for the server, you are not. With none, you will see what is actually going on.

Note that this will obviously not work for everyone, but it's worth giving a shot. I tried this with a friend and could play for a while without disconnects until he had to go.

My specs & Connection if needed:

Dual Core 1.33 Ghz, 512MB Video, 2GB Ram.

10MBs: South America, Venezuela. (ISP: CANTV)

Bit of advice here:

If you host a world with caves and you have 60 tick, then set Lag Compensation to "Predictive", because with low ping and "None" your character will weirdly have seizures while moving around.

tick_rate 60 makes all mobs move weird...
