DangWoodchuck
Damaged clockwork buddies are honestly a cool concept, but there are so many things that prevent them from being as helpful as the multiple uses for 3 gears. Let me point out major flaws I've found in what could've been awesome bodyguards. 1. If you attack an enemy clockwork, there's a chance that your robotic allies may get confused and attack you instead (this may be a bug). If you wanna slay the enemy robot, you'll have to let your clockworks do the work while you keep your distance. 2. Since these damaged chess pieces are still like any other clockwork (just under your command), they'll still be initially hostile to any creature they would be to as enemies, such as rock lobsters, pigmen, bunymen, catcoons, and of course, Chester. It's a bummer that these guys refuse to get along with any other animal (and the other way around) because this basically limits where you're allowed to go without a blood bath. 3. Giants and hounds are a major threat to these clockworks if you plan to bring them to the surface. The bosses' AoE attacks (save for Goose) can sweep all of your best men in a matter of seconds. I can't find a way to keep them from facing the giants, so there's no way to fight them solo. Fire hounds are a huge problem to a big group of clockworks, as they send them in flames as soon as they com-bust. The clockwork pals permanently follow you, so you can't fight dangerous enemies without having them join the fray. The best way to fix problems like this is to be able to tell the damaged clockworks to stay in one spot, like a sentry guard. 4. Rooks are terrible friends, because they bring ruin to everything, from your camp, to even the other clockworks. Can you tell me what the use is for these guys? They're a walking environmental hazard. In conclusion, I feel as though clockwork friends fall short on their uses. It's near impossible to bring them along without having something try to take them all out. I guess the concept with them is that they're allies only meant for the ruins, which is why they don't fare so well in higher grounds. Do you guys remember the A Moderately Friendly Update trailer video? Near the end, there was a friendly damaged knight that fought the nightmares of the ruins. Would it be cool if allied clockworks were actually capable of fighting nightmare monsters (doesn't include hallucinations)? It would give one more of a reason to resurrect one down in a place crawling with nightmares. DragonMage156
I've still never come across a damaged clockwork in all the times I've played. emerphish
I've still never come across a damaged clockwork in all the times I've played. Then you probably haven't been to the ruins. I feel like WX-78 should be able to have special functionality with the broken clockworks. WX is already the master race though Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62216-broken-clockworks-an-expensive-price-for-short-lived-allies/#findComment-708695 Share on other sites
