Mday
How are sandbags supposed to be used? Can someone help me out by posting a picture? The game spawn puddles during the first monsoon rain. Puddles expend to each adjacent tiles upon subsequent rain. Sandbag do not stop the puddles from expending (so surrounding your base/the puddle with sandbag wall won't work). You can however "kill" a puddle by placing a sandbag right on top of it. The sandbag can safely be removed afterward. Subsequent rain will not spawn more puddle. If your base is already heavily flooded then there is not much you can do.If you aren't into monsoon yet, make 30~40 sandbags. As soon as you see any puddles near your base, start placing sandbags over the puddles. Make sure you cover every tiles. In this game I have 4 puddles spawned near my base, plus more from deep in the forest. I only make enough sandbag for those near my base. The water you see in the picture are the resulting spread from those I didn't cover. If your base is already heavily flooded then there is not much you can do. t0panka
Same as other features that are happening on specific seasons! - no honey in winter- no farms in winter- no cactus flower in spring, autumn, winter- no roof = puddles- sand bags working against puddles in your base is just forum myth from people that think that walls around base are protecting from rain from above falling in your base Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/61391-how-to-stop-the-puddles/#findComment-702095 Share on other sites

Those are from rain, which is exactly why it shouldn't work like that.To me, at least it should make *some sense*. Golden axe make no sense but it is fine because it is fun. Puddle like this isn't fun non does it make any sense. Simple as that. Like I said before, either1) remove the puddle. Add wetness to structure, and disable structure base on wetness.2) keep the puddle but change how it works. No more random puddle location/ spread that cover the whole island/ add filler to remove puddles. And please stop telling me this is how puddle/sandbag works IRL. You have disabled base, you can spawn mosquitoes from something else. I dont see much different3) That does. Because water flow toward lower ground naturally. Eithera) You have three side of the base surrounded with sandbag, which should stop water flowing into your base from the surrounding high ground. Then you leave one side open where the water can go, In this case this should be the side facing the open sea which is the lowest ground. If your base is the lower ground comparing to the sea then your base should have floods from the sea all year round and not puddle from the rain. orb) If your base is surrounded by high ground form all side, then sandbag walls will reduce the water intake from the surrounding. People will then use a water pump to pump out water within the protected area. That is how it works IRL.No offence intended, may I ask your education background? Mday
OK lets say they do what you are asking ... WHAT NOW? What is the challenge of monsoon season? Also I could never understand this logic."We needed the challenge so please keep everything non sense in the game." If you find the puddle interesting and you wana keep it for it is fun then that's fine by me. There isn't much point in auguring whether something is interesting or not as it is up to the individual person to judge. However what people is saying is that the puddle should stay the same because it is challenging. Like, really?Like, can't we just take away the non sense and make something different for the added challenge? And it is not like a few mosquitoes and the water over the whole island is much of a challenge already. Hell from my experience it is more challenging to set up a base with 80 sandbag by day 40, than to just sail away from land for the whole season. No it is not impossible. Yes it takes away a lot of time where it can be used on something else say explore the world. In my latest playthrough, if I know there will be four puddles, in which each takes 10 sandbag to magically disable, I won't even bother making 20 sandbags pre-season. If you wanted a challenge than that mosquitoes spawning mechanism need to be changed too. 1 mosquitoes at a time just aren't that much of fun. That whole volcanic meteor showers issue is at a similar situation. Keep the nerf and make new challenge is the better way to go. Yet people could only find one way to keep the challenge that is to bring back the old meteor shower which bored me to bed every time. Mday
You cant farm honey from beeboxes in winter?BTW, ROG or SW, I can get honey all season. Just need to kill some bees.Either game I rarely needed honey. ROG, it is winter by day 20 and then there is spring. And in summer there is a risk of burning bees flying all over the place. So ever since ROG I rarely build any bee box. Just kill a few bees as I come across and I will have a few honey in my ice box. This season I have say 7 honey, 2 seasons later I will have 7 rots in my ice box. Same deal goes with farms/berry bushes. Never get used to farming since ROG. Mday
In case you wondering why I ask you your edu background and why I have a feeling that you aren't even 18 yo.It is because you seems to believe that rain alone contributes to the formation of puddles and terrain is disregarded entity from that matter.I need to know that you are old/educated enough to understand what I may present as explanation on how things IRL is.After all, I won't except a 10 yo to understand these all and won't bother explaining if you are indeed that young. CammoAmmo
While those two argue, there is a thread somewhere on here that has a perfect way to deal with the puddles. I can't find it at the moment, but I will try to explain without any pictures as I cannot get any at the moment... Before the season starts, gather around 3-4 stacks of sandbags (3 is probably fine). When the first rain comes, spend the duration of it placing a sandbag on each of the four outer tiles. As you know, the puddles all spawn in the first rain in small ones and expand with every rain. The first ones look like this: x xxx xIf you cover the 4 outer x's with sandbags, the puddle will no longer spread, and you have now conquered monsoon season If your base is already flooded however, I have no clue how to deal with that xD Good luck!EDIT: My diagram failed because of formatting so just imagine that those top and bottom rows of x's are right over the middle x in the middle row. It spawned on screen while I'm at base. Also I think you have to actually cover the middle of the puddles as well (not sure about this, but I bet the middle tile can spread through the sandbag too). If the base is already flooded, then either go explore somewhere or deal with it and use umbrella+ hats. Wait for the season end. Not much you can do about it really.
