Clwnbaby Posted December 10, 2015 Share Posted December 10, 2015 First off, Packin's transformation mechanics are cool and fun and nice idea, good job there. Now to the meat, EVERYTHING else about him sucks! He's worse than chester and here's how: 1. He is WAY too easy to ditch. I'll be sailing around in the cargo ship and then all of the sudden I look around and realize he's gone. Look at the map and I ditched him forever ago and now have to back track a lot to get him. Chester was easy to ditch too but you had to have a walking cane on a path to do it where as Packin is gone the first time you head in a straight line without stopping. And if you're in the faster boats (row boat or war boat) forget it you may as well just leave him in your base 2. Everything is an obstacle for him. How is this even possible, HE CAN FLY! If you have a flying follower he should be a- quick and b- a wall or a land mass shouldn't be an obstacle for him cause he should be able to FLY OVER IT. Not only that but he doesn't even path around obstacles. He just keeps flying into them as though even Packins is saying "wtf! i can fly why is this in my way." 3. He is always the primary target. What do i mean by this? If you try to fight ANYTHING around him instead of attacking the monster or mobs attacking you, you instead hit him first and foremost before anything else. I haven't managed to kill him yet but its getting very annoying that every time i fight something Packins takes my agro EVERY SINGLE TIME. He's a follower and and ally why is he even a static target in the first place. I should have to target ctrl-f hit to hit him, not automatically target him all the time. 4. He can fly! Even though this is already addressed in 2 I'd like to reiterate that his animation is that of a flying creature. This should make him more useful and easier to stick with you not the exact opposite. If I said around an island he shouldn't be taking the long path around it to get to me he should take the direct path over land to reach me. Now this may make him a bit annoying in that there will be times where he is hovering over land while im at sea but better that than having to wait or worse yet back track just to catch up with something that I should have never lost in the first place cause IT CAN FLY. Please fix or rework Packins please. What good is a following chest if it never follows you. But It think both Packim and chester could be in SW simultaneously: Chester would need a little raft to travel with the player, while Packim would be an easier-to-use traveling chest. But SW is only in alpha, I'm sure they wouldn't leave him as an auto-aggroing player-attacking food-eating moocher. Like I've said in previous posts, I want a new "permanent" follower in every DLC. First there was chester the one and only all hail him, then there was Glommer our pooping flying friend, and now it's Packim! Ofcourse he's buggy right now but it is in alpha. I love Packim! Not as much as chester but I wouldn't want him back in Shipwrecked. We need to find new friends. I'd also like to point out that Packim does not travel with the player if the player travels through the fog. Packim will perpetually be stuck in the same exact position the moment the player travels through the fog. The only way to get Packim back is to sail back to it's position and slow sail to base or wherever you decide to take Packim. At this point of the development, it really is better to just leave Packim at your camp. Cheers. When I'm sailing across the map, I seem to ditch him immediately....and never notice until I'm super far away. I don't want to have to constantly wait for him just because I'm using my armour boat + cloth sail. It's hit or miss whether Packim follows you through the fog to the other side. Sometimes he does...sometimes he doesn't and this is also super annoying. I would like to have a little dolphin like creature or baby whale creature that can follow you.Since he is a mammal he could jump on his fin on land and follow you.
