Rocklobster surface overpopulation?

Recommended Posts

Is this still an issue? I thought Klei fixed the bug. People are still reporting this problem over at the steam discussion forum.

Any feedback from you guys would be most appreciated. I'll link this thread as a reference to any other person asking over at the steam forum.

Thanks guys.

They didn't change the issue of rock lobsters creating a new spawn point above-ground, the fix was that they capped the herd size (also applies to Beefalo). IIRC, they capped it at 100. I'll see if I can find the thread that mentioned it...

yeh, the patch notes were rather vague

( http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/53279-build-134052-patch-notes-04272015/ ) . they just say the issue was addresed.

Yeah here is the steam announcement for anyone interested. http://steamcommunity.com/games/219740/announcements/detail/119686272606539232

So clearly this is something the developers intended to keep but naturally it still imposes an inconvenience. I wonder if Klei could at least maybe increase or delay the time it takes for Rocklobster herds to grow.

I have been too spooked to try it out. I always make sure to kill any followers before I surface.

Exactly this. I don't see the point right now of ever bringing one up to the surface. I know there are ways to maintain the growth but seriously it's annoying.

For me this is still the most annoying problem in DS. The overpopulation is one thing and I can live with it (although in late game its not that nice to watch at). The biggest issue is that they also "spawn from cave entries". Even from cave entries where you never took some of them out. My only solution was to bring them back again and again to the caves when they spawned.

There is a cap but it's too high imo.

Rocklobster are terribly huge and slow. How in earth can they breed so fast! It defies logic!
