Corthias snapped out of her reverie and looked towards the person that was in front of her.

". . .I'm sorry, was I staring off? Apologies. Um. Well. Have I introduced myself yet?"

She held the book at her side, comfortable enough to show but not enough to give.

(Heh.  Vilsig's plan is infinitely more subtle than "blow-up-the-villagers".)

Vilsig sees Kate before they see him, and pauses, thinking.  A small child, especially one with a potentially tragic and heart-wrenching past, would be a great asset in gaining people's trust.  He approaches her, making himself obvious so he doesn't startle her.

"Hello there, small one."  He says in a soft voice.  "Where are your parents?"

"Nooo no no no. Mom always told us to never go with or take anything from strangers, and this guy looks creepy." Kade cautioned. And he was right... but there was food, and it smelled good, and she was really really hungry. It couldn't be that bad, right? She glanced from Kade to the stranger to her carrot and back to the stranger before slowly nodding her head, preparing to bolt if he tried anything funny.

Judas had finished packing up his deck of cards, and walked over to Lefay. "A what?" he asked, staring at the ecstatic Mina dancing about what he heard as "watered melons".

Mina pouted and crossed her arms. "You just don't have a sense of humor. You were practically asking for that joke!"

Kate quickly snatched the kebab from the stranger's offering hand and took a step back, keeping a cautious eye on him while taking a nibble. Once she ate a little bit though, she couldn't stop herself and quickly devoured the rest of the rabbit.

Kate followed him a few steps behind. Kade walked beside her, eye narrowed. "I still don't trust him. Be prepared to run if he tries something; I'll fight him off if I have to." She glanced at her brother briefly and then back to the path in front of her.

Mina stared blankly in silence for a moment. "Well that got deep fast." she remarked. "You don't have to have memories to be happy though. At least I don't think. I mean, I'm still happy in spite of a lot of bad memories, and I can't be the only one. Come on guys, let's be honest; raise your hand if you have a tragic backstory." she says, raising a hand in the air. "Put 'm up, I know yah do."

"Yeah! I'm sure you'll get your memories some day!" Mina chirped in. "No use fretting over it." she looked around with her hand still in the air. "Seriously? Just me and Mark? That can't be right. Come on, there's no need to be shy."

Kate looked at the small village somewhat curiously. "Huh, for some reason I didn't expect to see this many people here. Where ever this place is can't be anywhere near where we used to live though, so we don't have to worry."

(HERE I COME!

don't worry, I already talked with Blew ahead of time, it's pre-approved.)

(Bio

Meanwhile, over at the village, there was a red fireball in the sky. A few seconds later, a meteor that seemed to be screaming in a mechanically produced voice, smashed into one of the houses, lighting it on fire.
