Hello can someone or a few people please help me...

I got Don't Starve 2 days ago and I was wondering if I could get a few tips from the 'Pros'. I was also kinda wondering if you can still plant trees right next to each other how do you do that or what can you do instead because spiders keep creeping in between the trees and I get a fright.

Hello there! And welcome! There are a lot of help on these forums if you do some searches. The trees can no longer be planted as close, so they can't be used for a physical fence anymore. Clearing out the spiders nests around your base will help you get them off your property.

If you considering someone who lived over 80 days is a "pro", then take my small advice;

Everyday is a reward if you're able to live, believe me.

I suggest you to settle your camp far away from threats like swamps (you'll see) and spider nests, and settle near the sea so that you don't get flanked (attacked) by monsters from all directions.

PS. Don't cut down trees near your tree walls, just cut down trees in an area with small numbers of trees (Away from camp). You'll thank me one day.

As for combat tips, just try to stay away from spiders unless they're too close and constantly try to invade your property. Get rid of any nests in your region, after you're extremely confident and well-suited.

And most importantly: Don't starve.

Do as Trollgaard said I find it best to use fire on them. If you place a campfire near the webs then put it to full flames it will catch on fire or plant a tree as close as you can and set that on fire. The spiders will leave the nest and sleep when done during the day allowing you to kill them with ease.

Make a bacon farm one harvest of a bacon farm with 10 plots is around 5 days of food and the bacon doesn't grow back for three days though.

The best strategy as far as protection goes is to build your base near a pig village. That way if any dangerous monsters start chasing you, you can simply run through the village and the pigs will take care of them for you. However, this only works during the day since the pigs go into their houses at night. But since you run faster than any monsters in the game, if worse comes to worse you can just run around the village until daylight appears again and the pigs come back out to save you.

Yea, you can't build tree fences anymore, if they are fully grown they can (sometimes) block the spider queen but is unreliable.

I think that the tips will kinda screw up some fun of the game... You can use the wiki to learn somethings by yourself too.

If you don't really mind, here are my tips:

• Place your base next a pig village (with the pig king) - This way you will have unlimited gold (tools or research) by feeding the king, and unlimited poop by feeding the pigs (+ slaves)
  • If you need pig skin (bacon) you can give food for 1 pig, go away from the village and attack him (with "CTRL" + M1/Spacebar). Feeding 4 monster meat he becomes a werepig, increasing the drop rate (If you spam attacks he will be stunned, so don't worry).
• The bird trick (see tips) is very useful in the beginning
• For the spiders, small traps can caught them.
• Upgrades: 1 Rope, 2 Logsuit, 3 Spear
• Learn the keyboard keys
• Carry extra meat on your inv for kill the hounds
• Learn how to "kite"
  • Tentacles: 1 Bait the attack - 2 Hit once - 3 Run (while it attacks) - Repeat
  • TreeGuard: 1 Bait the attack - 2 Hit 3~4 times - 3 Run (while it attacks) - Repeat
  • Spider Queen: 1 Kill the mobs - 2 Bait the attack - 3 Hit 2 times - 3 Run (while it attacks) - Repeat + When she are spawning spiders, hit 3~5 times.
  • Other mobs are easy (spiders) or hard/impossible (hounds, tallbirds and jumping spiders) to kite. In this case just attack (don't forget the armor) or run.

I just went on and made a new game and set up a nice camp (fire pit, science machine, 2 chests and trees around everything (I know they don't do much but I like the feel...)) and as Soon as I got my science machine I unlocked the log suit and spear as I had 200+ research points from previous games. I made a spear so I could defend my self and wait through the night. The next day hounds appeared (there were 2) I got the biggest fright ever and ran while equipping my spear, I ran more and picked off the hounds one by one. I didn't think spears were needed (HAHA NOOB) so I wouldn't have managed that without the help from you guys, so thanks again.
