No Ancient Guardian

Recommended Posts

I've been into the Ruins many times and always found the Ancient Guardian at the end of the labyrinth (in a "room" with lightbulbs and columns).  However, it does not appear to be in the first Ruins I visited in this world.

Does it not appear every time?

You haven't found the place where he is? (its a set piece) or did you found the place but he wasn't there? If the first then follow the steps below

1 - check all the borders of the map

2 - map reveal mod and look for a square with a lot of lightbulbs( should be at the end of a labyrinth)

If the latter then you should look around maybe he is killing something(if he attacks the spiders then spiders attack back and the fight ensues)

If either of the 2 options worked then you get an achievement for a silly thread and if neither of the 2 worked then somethings gone wrong with map generation(or you just forgot that you killed him) Spawn him if you want.

I did not find his set piece at all in that particular Ruin.  From my experience it always appears around the labyrinth which I did explore fully.  However, possibly there are multiple labyrinths in this map.  I did not fully explore one area with monkeys and ancient artifacts so maybe it was there.

Anyway, I have moved on to another map now.

Figures that now that I am finally trying to collect all Houndius Shootius I am having difficulty finding them.

Another one like that, huh?  That's twice now I've seen cave entrances on islands.

I have a milder case where just the ruins entrance is on an island.  I really should get to work on that mod I planned that would enable the player to jump the gaps.  (With a structure.  Longer range than the More Actions/Frog Webber mods, but at a fixed location and a 1-time crafting cost.)

I'll still explore this cave eventually, however, I need to investigate another cave/ruin to create the Lazy Explorer first.

Is it just me or do other people not like the Lazy Explorer either?  I find myself accidentally teleporting with it all the time.  For example, trying to plant trees close together and instead I transport two steps in an open field.  I know I can unequip it while doing other tasks but the 10% speed boost actually shows even when doing mundane tasks such as that.

I'm more concerned about the cost of using it.  1 lazy explorer gets 10 trips in and out of the ruins.  I'm just concerned that if I'm serious about exploring & plundering, I'm going to need a bunch of them.  I mean, I do have three other caves, I suppose I could just make a bunch of them...

If you're worried about accidental teleportation you could just use a walking cane most of the time.  Only time I've used a lazy explorer was to visit a spider-infested island.  Bit of a recurring theme about world gen...

Yeah, you make some good points here.  Yes, traveling back and forth was a pain (using up the Lazy Explorer).  It was like a more tiresome version of building your base on a wormhole island.
