gremlin50cal Posted July 17, 2015 Share Posted July 17, 2015 I'm playing adventure mode as wx-78 and was doing pretty well, got the game is afoot first so i got fully upgraded with gears and was taking all the pieces to the wooden thing to go to next world until chester died in the middle of a spider biome with all the pieces to the wooden thing inside him, I have managed over the last couple of days to take out most of the nests with fire darts but that only kills the dens not the spiders so right now there are literally over a hundred spiders between me and all the pieces, how can I go about killing them so I can move on to the next world. Also grass is really rare in this world for some reason so i cant really make a whole bunch of traps. If they have no den to return to, they should de-aggro a significant enough distance away. Drop the monster meat you pick up from them to lure a few more away. Rinse and repeat until you can get past. Mobbstar Posted July 17, 2015 Share Posted July 17, 2015 you can make them attack but run away before they hit you, for when you need to buy time (or when there's only about five spiders). Also, as said above, spiders (EDIT: Not warriors) get interrupted in their attacks when hit, so you can dual-beat spiders up. StaypuftMMM Posted July 17, 2015 Share Posted July 17, 2015 If you can hire any help (pigmen) or kite them into a group of other mobs (hounds, beefalo, merms, bees, clockworks, etc) then I would try those things first. The less actual fighting you have to do the better. Beyond that, I'd suggest what everyone else has said, which is slowly thinning the herd one spider at a time. I ended up killing a queen from another area of the map and then using the spider hat to run through the horde real quick and grab all the pieces. I watched as an innocent bystander while 50+ spiders killed each other on one of my words (I had burned down their nests with a fire staff)What is even better (though on a smaller scale) is as webber feeding a spider or two from a nest then hitting the nest and looting everything, usually only one spider left. Then use the monster meat you got to do it again...muahahah. Build them in a small area (not too close together or theyll knock each other over), smack a spider on the nose, then run for the traps. Collect all your free meat/silk/glands, repeat.
