When I heard of this new spider queen I was scared shitless of it, I didn't dare provoke it until one day a nest stood up and came to my camp. So I threw on my logsuit and well... Charged, with my spear. They said that fighting these would require more strategy then just rushing it but surprisingly I actually killed it by just whacking it over and over and over, it took out my logsuit by 90% and most of my health though.

After that I made a spider hat which will turn some of the small spiders to fight for you. So I attacked another spider queen and sure enough half of the spiders she pooped out were fighting for me and I barely had to lift a finger. Each spider hat should give me about 3 uses.. Which is a profit of 2 spider hats. at this rate spider queens aren't even a challenge :(:(:(

I was hoping for the spider queen to be something that was nearly impossible to kill, something you had to arm yourself to the teeth for. Have the perfect strategy and the best possible gear, but it just turned out to be a chop til you drop mob :/

hmm... you could just BURN IT TO THE GROUND!!!!! MOO HAHAHAHAHAHA!

it's alot more entertaining, but, to be honest, i have been smashing spider nests all over and i haven't found a queen. soooo... my advice is pretty much what willow would say. just leave it for a while, and come back in a day with out a spider hat. that might not be so easy.

I think the spider queen was just made for Mid-game content, but since there is no higher tier of armor, everyone pretty much has end-game gear (football helmet, tentacle spike, and log suit).

I fought 5 at once before, after they already spawned hundreds of spiders on me >_<

Sidenote: The Spider Hat is overpowered, after I died once to those 5 queens and the billion spiders and warriors chasing me, I just put on a spider hat and killed them all.

My last game killed me by dropping 6 spider queens at once... as well as 4-5 nests worth of angry ass spiders... I would say they provide quite the challenge! :D

But in all honesty, given this game's fighting style no monster will REALLY be a threat when attacked by 1 or 2...

My issue with the Spider Queen is the same than with the Treeguard... She is very easily kiteable.

Because she's so slow, it's easy to circle around her a few times and let her spiderlings outrun her, and after they are taken care of, it's all a matter of click->click->click->click->D->A->repeat. Bonus clicks if she spits out another spider.

I've found a regular level three Spider den to be at least four times bigger a challenge than the spider royalty.

In my opinion, enemies should be harder to kite, just not completely impossible like jumping spiders. Also, armor should absorb less damage and have more durability, to avoid item whoring, but lowering overall enemy damage slightly to compensate.
