Best strategy to rush adventure mode?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys.
As the title suggest, I don't really like to settle & turtle on the adventure maps, as in my opinion sandbox is much more fun to turtle on.
I'm trying to finish first world of adventure world under 10 days, but I absolutely cannot do this.
The only way I'm winning adventure was to turtle heavily each map, which was suuuuper boring.
Any advice?

Willow with fire & play nomadic + rush for things during the night?

It really depends on the map,

i have never beaten adventure mode, though it was a long time ago that i tried,

this may contain spoilers on the content of adventure mode

i am currently giving it a go, and in maps for example Archipelago you can easily rush through, though if it is your first and you have found beefalo, it may be wise to stock up on honey/jerky and other supplies you might want to bring and prebuild/research anything that might come in handy.

My runs thus far, in a game is afoot i died sadly because of somehow during dusk where tallbirds are supposed to sleep, they all rose and decided to stunlock me to death lol

Sadly i had struck gold there, because i found tallbirds near beefalo near spiders, and in the middle of that were 2 mactusk hunting party's, i had a tam 'o shanter and 2 tusks before day 10 lol, i would have probably build up a base there because the supplies were beautiful :)

On my second go i was put in a cold reception, i found beefalo quite soon as with some rocks, but 2 things were behind 12 pig guards, and the rest were behind killer bee fields... So i had no choice to put up a base. I died once because of the guards, but i had a touchstone luckily :)

I escaped that world on day 24 with 40 honey, a walking cane i found near a skellie, 24 silk and 13 pig skins.

Because of the supplies, i could easily rush through archipelago, after gathering 3 things, fully exploring 3 islands and still not finding the next wormhole i got frustrated and used map reveal, which was good because the next wormhole was in the middle of a killer bee field... so i probably would have insta-died if i did not know that because of map-gen... I got out on day 8, and i am currently in world 3 2 worlds (no wes :() but i am a that lucky bastard to have again lots of pigs, beefalo, and a fully functional non sick wormhole ^^ So i will probably turtle there just for the fun of having a really easy world to relax :)

My next world will be either king of winter or a game is afoot, both will be very hard i think. (though i did once complete king of winter as my first world)

As for the chess pieces, i generally have no trouble fighting them

if all of them are still alive, i usually just stay in range of 1 knight to lure him out, so finishing him off would not aggro the bishops.

Then i would just tank the bishops to death, as on themselves they are quite easy and do not do alot of damage. The trick is really to not fight them all at once,

In had spiders killing off a knight and a bishop, i also captured some killer bees once and released them among the teleportato after running away, this also proved to be very effective :-P, so try to fight them off alone, or use the environment a bit.

WX. After you complete the first two missions, it's gg. Just, don't be afraid to go insane. It's really not that big of a deal and you can just endlessly kite everything on the rain maps with overpowered bul.. balanced lightning-WX mechanics.

If you need more help/information, message me and I'll try remember the exact method I used to fullproof win outright every time (of the first few missions that you can start on, two are outright easier to win - raining frogs being, by far, the easiest. With the raining frogs mission, just bulrush the clockwork chesspiece set (end point or whatever, where those damn rooks and knights and stuff are) and camp there till it rains. Once it rains, the frogs will start to spawn within a distance of you and they will aggro the chess pieces (no, it doesn't make any sense). The frogs will inevitably win and you can claim both the frogs legs and the cogs - it's not gg yet but Adventure Mode just became extremely easy. Get the other raining mission next and it's over. King of Winter is also really easy to win, but the other Winter mission is much, much harder and you'll probably have to restart Adventure Mode if you start off on it.

While it seems very interesting, I cannot win through standard play in adventure map as I currently just won map 1, and I always die before map 2.

I just give up, adventure mode is just way too hard unless you wanna play 100 days each map...

Keep your Divining Rod out, and listen to the sound.  The sound will change pitch even while the signal remains 'low' which can give you a much earlier hint as to the location of the closest 'thing'.

I don't really like to turtle either, so I play as Wickerbottom. The fact that she doesn't need to build a science machine is really useful when you want to keep moving. Although I've managed to make it up to Darkness by doing this, I've never actually managed to beat Adventure Mode, so this strategy obviously isn't fool-proof.

When I beat Adventure mode, I used Wickerbottom for the nice fact she doesnt need a science machine for the basics. I never spend more than 25 days in any adventure "map" (besides Two Worlds). Collecting the pieces is simple. If you're having trouble with paggy barricades, try walking around the outside of the walls. Sometimes you can just walk right past them. Tallbird traps are simple, just wait till dusk when they sleep and run as fast as you can. Once you get to the teleportato, you'll need to either kill all clockworks, or quickly shove all the pieces in and activate it. I got pretty lucky a few times and was able to make a panflute. Put them all to sleep ,and bam, next world.

It's gonna take you at least half a dozen tries to actually beat adventure mode, but I think it's welllll worth it :)

I try to finish the first few maps in under 20 days, to be honest. If I get the map with the falling frogs, I rush the clockwork biome as fast as possible and just wait for the first rains. Once the frogs dispatch unto those pesky clockwork guards and you nomnom all of those gears and pickup all those frogs legs, you use whatever supplies you've accumulated in the day or two waiting for the rain and simply rush each objective. Try to get yourself struck by lightning as this'll give you both the increased movement speed AND a free torch - ignore your sanity as you can so asetjhbakwejt EASILY kite the insanity creatures when you're high on electricity. You should be able to finish this Raining-Frogs mission in about 2-3 days + however long you have to wait for it to rain.

Complete another mission and you can practically rush through the whole campaign. The WHOLE point of this strategy is that WX-78's cogs buffs carry through from each mission to the next, so you'll end up with 400hp, 350 hunger, and 300 sanity or something ridiculously overpowered. Coupled with your free nightlight for the final mission (which is carried out in complete darkness), finishing the campaign as WX-78 is nothing more than a walk in the wet park.

Pro Tip for the last mission: collect enough twigs and logs for torches and fires, and just go straight nomadic asap. You can't play the final mission like a normal game at all. The best advice I can give you is to learn to toggle your torch on and off. Toggle it off just long enough for Charlie to begin to attack you, then toggle it on for a split second. Continue to only toggle your torch on for tiny split seconds (merely to deter Charlie's attacks) and you should be able to conserve the insurmountable number of twigs you come by. If you want to conserve even more, use your torch to light stray trees alight, and hug the Light-Beacons whenever you need time to think/strategise.

You can do this. It won't take you a week either. As I said, message me if you need more brainstormed ideas - it's been a while since I practised my Adventure speed-runs.
