As a ghost, you could save your little-supplied friends from Charlie biting on their butts, you could explore the world a little bit faster with no worry, and you could try and bother that one guy that you don't like by lighting his berry bushes on fire. But it's not good to kill yourself to do these things. You'll drop your stuff, and lose some health permanently. It's not worth it. But, what if there was an item that allowed you to go into an out-of-body experience without having to kill yourself, no worries about you farting all your equipment onto the ground, or draining of the health. Ladies and Mentlegens, I present to you: The Meditation Rug! (Name Not Final.) It can be found in Magic Tab, and works similarly to a Straw/Fur Roll. When used, you lay the rug onto the ground, and your character will go all criss-cross-applesauce and their spirit will leave their body. And when you're done ghosting around, you can re-enter your meditating character to go back to normal. But, there are some downsides. If your just having an out-of-body experience, and your not dead, effigies, Touch Stones, and Telltale Hearts won't revive you. You can only stay out-of-body safely for so long. A meter will appear in the top-left corner, and once that meter reaches 0, you will begin to lose permanent health. Your body can still be attacked and killed, so you have to make sure you meditate within a safe place, and/or near a friend. There may be some of you who do not like having your base haunted, with fires starting randomly. You may be saying: "dood xXsnipinyobootyXx is tots gunna ghost n rekt my bais m8." First, please don't talk like that. Second, do not worry, for I have a second idea in my brain. Behold, the Spirit Charm! Themed like an Ofuda, you can hang this on any structure: A Science Machine, Alchemy Engine, Bird Cage, Trees, etc. If a ghost haunts something with a charm, there will be a little to no chance of disaster striking. So your base is safe! To make this not overpowered, perhaps the charms can expire and new ones have to be made. rezecib Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 The spirit charm sounds a little impractical, both from coding/art perspective (it would take a lot of work to have an add-on item for structures, although maybe I'm thinking of the approach the wrong way), and from the player's perspective. Usually it's hard enough setting up a base, let alone protecting it from ghosts. Perhaps instead, you could build a totem that prevents negative ghost interaction in a lightning-rod-like radius? I really like the meditation rug idea, though. But it might be a bit better of an experience if instead of losing permanent health, you snap back to your body and lose a large chunk of health (maybe 40?). A Totem sounds a lot better than multiple charms.I don't think so, if the charms are invisible then player spirits can't actually see if they can interact with the object or not without hurting themselfs. It adds a sense of risk for me, that's why i like the idea. If I put a charm on a grass tuft, can all the nearby grass tufts be protected? The flammables are the easy ghost targets it seems. Quady14 Posted October 18, 2014 Share Posted October 18, 2014 I really dig the meditation rug idea, and it makes for good reason to build up some walls around you for protection against hound attacks and the like, pack a hammer before your spiritual excursion and you can wall yourself in for extra safety measures and break yourself out when you're done. I would love to see the rug implemented as a mod.
