Unsound Mind Posted July 16, 2014 Share Posted July 16, 2014 I've always thought about it like this: when you're taken to the Don't Starve world, you have three components that make up you. There's your memories, your physical body, and your soul. If we're using a metaphor, your physical body would be a recording device, the song recorded on it is your memories, and the person pressing play is your soul. In Charlie's case, somehow, her recording device was permanently destroyed, while her soul roams about without any recollection of who she is. That explains why we can't see her--she doesn't have a physical body. In a way, she could even be the darkness. Whether she has no form and only complete invisibility empowers her or she now is "so hideous" and hides from any sight-lashing out in anger from whatever fate she is in at all awake animals-is unknown. While we don't know what specifically caused the transformation, we know Charlie definitely is the Night Monster (I'm So Sorry Charlie.)
