I know you switch to Maxwell once you free him. Derp Posted May 10, 2014 Share Posted May 10, 2014 If you beat adventure mode you unlock Maxwell in the character select screen and Maxwell replaces whomever was your character was at the time. This means Maxwell will now be the character you play as in the survival map that contained the door to adventure you walked through to unlock him.Maxwell will also retain all the items, recipes, anything really, that the other character had on him before he entered the door to adventure. Really your character is just simply swapped for Maxwell. Should Maxwell die on this survival map and not have any active means of resurrection such as a touchstone or meat effigy it'll be as if you died on any other survival map and it'll be game over and that world will be deleted. Once Maxwell has been freed, and lets say you freed him with Wilson: Now Wilson will be on the throne. Any character who is not Wilson who goes through adventure mode a second time will meet Wilson on the throne and have the option to free him. Should they free Wilson, Wilson will replace that character in Survival mode just like Maxwell replaced your previous character and now the character who freed Wilson will be on the Nightmare Throne. Once a character has been unlocked, they stay unlocked. Even if Wilson is on the Nightmare Throne you can still create a new save and start a game as Wilson. Should Wilson be on the Nightmare Throne and your 2nd Wilson on a different save attempts to do Adventure Mode, Maxwell will be waiting for you at the end of Adventure Mode, if memory serves. It should be noted that if Maxwell attempts to do Adventure Mode, NPC Maxwell will not greet him. It should also be noted that even if Maxwell is no longer on the Nightmare Throne and you're playing as any other character other than Maxwell, NPC Maxwell will still greet you every step of the way at the beginning of each adventure world as if he were still on the Throne. Or after I reach the end Wendy won't be at the throne at all? Sorry to bring such old post up, It's better than creating one I suppose. I think so... if you go back to the throne, regardless of which world/save slot you're using, you'll find the last char you left there sitting in it. I've been trying to do the same (put evil Maxwell back on it) but I find it hard to finish AM with him. Good luck!
