When pigs are alone you can't kill them?

A few days ago I created a pig house to farm some pig skins, but whenever I attacked the pig he'd just say "too close" and run away, and no matter how many times I hit him he didn't die until his mood changed - in fact my blows were doing no damage at all. And now I just killed off all the pigs in a pig village except for 1, and it's exhibiting the same behavior. Anybody else get this? Bug?

The key is to wait for the Pig Man to come to a full stop. Wait a second or two, then try hitting him again. It's a bit weird; sometimes, you'll just walk up to a Pig Man and start hitting him; other times he'll run away 6 times before you actually hit him. Just keep trying, it's not really a bug so much as inconsistency in how Soon the Pig Men will start running away from you when you approach.

As a backup plan, pigs will run towards basically any food that you put on the ground. Just drop some seeds or berries and attack once they start to close in.

On the bright side, you only have to hit them once. Once you land that first hit, they'll fight back and won't run away.

Something about this quote just popped a picture of Wilson hiding behind some berry bushes with spear in hand, waiting for a pig to come up to the bait. It made me giggle

Alternatively you can also click them with food like you are going to feed them, they will freeze in place saying ooo what you got or something like that, and as you walk towards them just tell your character to attack with your weapon and you're good to go
