PS4 Forums Needed

Recommended Posts

Love the game.  Hate looking through the forums trying to figure out which advice is outdated or doesn't even apply to my PS4 console edition.  This is only going to get worse as DLC starts to diverge.

Can we get our own forums, and possibly tweak the forum search so that we can search for "PS4" or some console edition specific tag?

Your own Forum? Most likely not. A sub category? Likely.

although, there is no real difference.

..what differences are there other than that silly little trophy craftable?

Nothing other than bugs in the ps4 engine that have been reported. OP, the games will be updated roughly at the same time. You can tell if something is meant for PS4 based on the date. If the date the thread was made is before the last PC update, it doesn't apply. Otherwise, it does.

When I started this thread, I was mostly thinking of the caves.  When I searched the forums, I could see a ton of advice about caves that didn't seem to apply to the console edition.  Lots of stuff about amulets working or not down there, death counting or not, Chester bugging out or not, meat food placed in Chester making Bunnymen angry or not, etc.

I wasn't aware that the DLC going forward would be kept in sync between the PS4 and the PC, so if that's true it's good to hear.

Having not played both versions, maybe there are more differences I'm not aware of?  Are PC users still able to reset caves to deal with limited resources?

Controls are obviously different.  Laying out perfectly spaced / planned camps seems near impossible for console users although maybe someone can teach me some tips there.

The developer console that PC players have make it easy to make a new cave among many other things including mods, but as far as the game is concerned, they are currently the same version. Certain PS4 engine errors obviously aren't in the PC version but as far as features, they're the same.

As far as controls, I'm not so sure they are different, assuming you have a playstation controller hooked up on a PC. but either way, laying out perfectly spaced structures is hard on PC too, even with a mouse. There's actually even a mod to make perfection possible.

The only differences are you do  not get Mods or Console Commands.

The rest is identical (but some bugs could have been "fixed" on the PS4.) Any bugs you find need to be reported here if you expect them to be recognized and fixed (don't assume Klei knows they are there,) noting your Platform as PS4. I'd recommend using this template also, (just remember to enter PS4 for Platform of course.)

Creating another forum or sub forum takes work, moderators and time away from game development and debugging. Most what I see from PS4 is bugs and sometimes control hints. I honestly think that its just a case of the PS4 edition being sorta new and finding its place here in our community.

Give it some time.

Any chance we can make "PS4" searchable in the forums?  That would basically solve my problem.  I spent a lot of time reading through the threads where people were posting pictures of their awesome bases, at the end of which people started wondering why PS4 users weren't posting them.

Maybe it's because we can't create perfectly laid out bases like the PC users, and we'd like to compare our bases with other PS4 / console edition users by searching through the topic just for people that have PS4 somewhere in the text.

Right now, that doesn't seem to be allowed because the search string is probably too short.

I like it as it is to be honest. All a separate forum would do is split the community in two, which would be a shame because this is one of the few PC to console games I've played where everyone seems to get along okay on the forum lol.

Besides every time something important relating to the PS4 version crops up here people tend to mark it with [PS4] at the start of the thread title.

People above have convinced me that a PS4 forum isn't necessary.  But despite people adding PS4 to their thread titles, that's still not a searchable phrase.  Probably too short for the search engine.

I'll bow out of this topic though, there's probably not much that can be done to the search engine, and I need to get back to playing the game!

It's up to you then to continue to convince people who play ps4 to use New Thread forum posting  tags and put PS4 on relevant issues and you to use the full search field  for searching tags since nobody else but you is vocally mentioning this as a problem.

Uncle.

I'm not vocal, just a new user trying to solve problems that I figured other console users were too lazy to post about.  I didn't even realize these forums supported tags, so I'll see if I can update this one with PS4 tag after the fact, and then hope other people do the same.

Thanks everyone for the help.  Backing out of this thread to focus on more stuff related to actually playing the game.
