Best Characters - Survival vs. Adventure!

Well it isn't only the balloons that make him stand out in adventure, it is the bad stats too. The balloons draining sanity is one up side, but Wickerbottom does that way better in a more useful way. Either pop a few balloons for some damage, or put all of your enemies to sleep, both with a sanity drain.

Remember, WX has "bad stats" starting out too. It's not simply bad stats or weaker combat (see Wendy without Abigail for example.)

It's when you combine weak stats and weak combat and have a sanity-draining mechanic for the "character's main special ability." That's when you start getting into "hardcore play."

I've beaten Adventure Mode with every character except Wes because I still haven't unlocked him and I never made it a priority and honestly I had the easiest time with Willow by far. She's just unfazed by the dark. People complain about the sanity, but I mean, sanity isn't a problem. It doesn't kill you at all. It'll summon shadows, but they're really easy to dodge and kill, especially with a bit of armor and then your sanity goes up a bit again. Or just keep running. The dark doesn't stop you, so...

Well Wes is tough to use, and you use him for a challenge, so i put him more for survival.

He's practically normal difficulty (and still easy to survive at that) while all the other characters are overpowered...

Well he is under powered, if you look at it logically. All the other players are Over Powered and he is normal, is pretty much the same ratio as everyone else is normal and he is weak.

Which would also mean that there would be no difference if Wes was overpowered and all the other characters were extremely overpowered...

Oh man... you're one of THOSE people.

Since the point is who we think is best for Adventure Mode and Survival, I'd say Willow is really damned good for Adventure, and for Survival I really like WX-78. There are several ways to initiate Overload when you want, you can upgrade a good amount and head to the caves to fight more clockworks. As long as you have gears you recover full health and everything, spoiled food doesn't bug you. meaning everything lasts longer for you to eat. He's just really ******* strong. Wilson is really fun too, but I think he's more of an icon at this point. Everybody likes Wilson.

I'm already familiar with the characters, plus this is far from the first time this topic has been discussed. You don't need to explain to me what they do simply because I have a different opinion than you. Maybe elaborate on who "those" people are?

One of the people who plays a game then claims that it's so easy that the only way to play it is to play the hardest mode, or hard mode character and then claim that it's still too easy. My take on Willow, WX, and Wilson wasn't directed at you at all. It was directed towards the OP.

I just use the guy that has no downsides and one upside. Wilson. Fairly tough to get past adventure mode with him took a couple hours though. As for Wolfgang's sanity issue it's only 10% and if you cook blue mushrooms you get 10 sanity back.

Well golly gee willikers, when I see a name like Cynical Cynicist, I could-a SWORN I'd get postings about puppies seen through rose-colored glasses....

..and double rainbows. Can't forget the double rainbows.

As for the rest of that dialog, not even going to nibble that baited hook.

It's Wilson because of that mighty beard isn't it? ;)

Cynical doesn't mean arrogant, those two things don't HAVE to go hand in hand. The rest of the post wasn't baited. I was just clarifying that I wasn't telling HIM how to play the characters, I was telling the OP- the one who posted this thread- why I thought the characters were best for me. Not baited at all.

Honestly, I shouldn't have said anything, but that always gets under my skin, when someone acts like they've got the whole damn thing figured out and it's just so impossibly simple.

Wes is the hard mode character. It's what he was made for. Plenty of people think the game is hard without him, so he's just insulting anyone who thinks the game is difficult, basically. I find that unnecessary.
