What is the best way to manage Woodie's Curse?

Recommended Posts

Now, i'm using a mod myself that allows me to skip the whole full moon thing, but if that wasn't there, I would probably spend plenty of time preparing the items needed to recover from the were-beaver-fest afterwards, and just wait it out peacefully, unless there was something really important to do while were-beaver'd.

Which sound better, forcibly triggering werebeaver, or simply waiting until the full moon?

Die in a flower field?

Unless you happen to come across one by pure luck, it's quite expensive. You'd go through a decent amount of silk setting one up. To me, taffy and healing items seems to be the more cost-efficient route.

What if I can do it only with one net?

Bug Net = 10 uses

6 Butterflies = 6 flowers

4 bees = infinite flowers

infinite flowers = infinite sanity

But how many can you get in the number of days between full moons? And let's not forget that it's actually a DOUBLE-COST due to sometimes having two days with full moons in a row.

Darn it ninja replied before I could reply.

Oh well, after nine minutes later, I decided to reply with:

Why not stock up on green mushrooms somewhere when you find a swamp?

Use 2 bug nets?

Early on in the game, you might not really have much silk to churn out tons of bug nets. If you haven't been able to set up spider farms, and don't have spider population set to more, this may not be so easy.

Again, this is luck-based. Yes, you MAY be able to find some green mushrooms, but will it be enough to restore woodie's sanity? Maybe...maybe not. In my current world,I have yet to find any swamps at all. Two green mushrooms. That's it.

You people are so pessimistic. Once you learn how to kill a level 1 spider den with an axe, it's plenty doable.

Now thing is that you're better off making taffy and other healing items, but that's just a no-brainer. Why make this thread if you just wanted people to tell you to eat taffy, right?

Kill it with an axe, and not my bare hands, and eat taffy ...well that explains it then!

*sarcasm mode off*

Seriously, if any of you can't do these basic things, you have a lot more problems than which character you are playing.

Killing things isn't the problems. Seriously, on a default world, it can take a seriously long bit of searching just to find ONE spider nest. Depends on what the RNG Gods hand you.

Okay, let's try something else. Suppose you had no silk onhand, and there were no spider nests within a reasonable distance. What now?

Just hunt one extra koalaphents and sleep in a tent. 2 meaty stews, or honey ham, or whatever you please plus the sanity and health buff of the tent and you're golden. If you have two full moons in a row (which tends to happen) dont do anything stupid or risky after the first day, go beaver again, then heal up after. Or just go down into a cave if that really does prevent "the beavering", hang out for the night, came back out during the day! Problem solved.

Edit: with no silk for a tent you can still use either straw rolls for the sanity, or just hang out in the cave.

just be ready with a sleeping implement and food for the next night

What if hounds happen? You might be screwed.

refer to this phrase:

fortune favours the prepared

just make sure you have a plan for as many scenarios as you can think of, I got to day 108 as woodie (would've gotten further if it wasn't for bugs and a deerclops) and this worked well for me, while hounds are a pain make sure you know where you can kite them to distract or kill them
