Joseph's screams stopped abruptly as he found himself in a new place. "H-Hello?" His voice was still shakey from the previous traumatic experience, and he took a few deep breathes to try to calm himself down. The young mentalmancer then proceeded to search the area for anything that stood out, occasionally turning a piece of equipment over in his hand with interest.

Most of the equipment is home to multiple insects, most of which scurry away in fright.  Joseph continues on.

"Damnit, why did a brick wall have to appear in front of our only escape route!"  Jakob yells, pounding fruitlessly on the brick wall that appeared in front of their only escape route.  Gluttony begins to force his way into the alley, roaring and belching furiously.

The mentlemancer finds what appears to be a replica of the city he was in before.  It is complete with moving figures of Gluttony, Battal and Violet, all doing what they are doing at the actual city.

"Woah!" Joseph couldn't help but be in awe of what appeared to him as some sort of chess board with moving pieces. After a few seconds of pondering, though, it didn't take him long to guess the purpose of the replica. The young mentalmancer reached out for the Gluttony miniature and began carefully sliding it away from Jakob and Violet.

(Eh, forget it.)

Gluttony is shoved back into the street, but at the cost of half Joseph's finger.  The strategy clearly is not working.

Meanwhile, Jakob has decided to take action, throwing explosive fireballs at the demon.  Chunks of limbs and flesh drop off it like flies, but it doesn't seem to be hurting him.

Gluttony only moves back

Joseph let out a shreik of pain, which would be the natural reaction to loosing one of your fingers. Deciding that perhaps attempting to move Gluttony was a bad idea, he turned his attention to the wall that blocked the group's path. He sent his uninjured hand at it, hoping to clear a path for the group.

Gluttony explodes out of a building behind the two runners, roaring in pain as shards of glass and concrete cut into his flesh.  Jakob runs towards a building labeled "Archives".  Upon reaching the doors, he finds they are locked and barred from the inside.

"Damnit!"  He yells, looking back at the monster charging their way.

The group gets inside the building, slamming the door behind them.  It is pitch black inside.  Slowly, light fills the room, revealing what looks like a large laboratory.  The walls are made from stone, pillars hewn out of them every meter or so.  Wooden tables covered in dark artifacts litter the room, and in the center rises a smaller version of the Spire.  Shadowfall is cutting runes into this with an ornate knife.

Suddenly, a door at the far side of the room bursts open, admitting two armored guards and a black-robed man.  He slowly observes the contents of the lab, then looks towards Shadowfall.

"And what,"  He asks, causing the shade to look up at him, "is all this?"

Shadowfall rises, walking towards the man.  He places the knife down on a table before answering.  "Just doing your bidding, master."

The last word is spoken with a hint of sarcasm, causing the robed man's eyebrows to rise in suspicion.

"I really don't think this is necessary for a simple Elixir of Life."  He says, his eyes falling upon the corpse of a midget.  It has been impaled by multiple spikes, like a pincushion.  "Now tell me.  Truthfully.  What.  Are.  You.  Doing."

Shadowfall does not respond, his eyes showing a slight glint of amusement.  This, however, pushes his master too far.  He draws a long, sickle-shadow blade out from his belt.  It is fairly familiar.

"Recognize this?"  He asks.  "This is the knife I used to carve your pathetic form into life.  And I will happily drive it through your skull to send you back!  Now WHAT ARE YOU - "

The man explodes, chunks of limbs and organs splattering the laboratory's walls like some kind of sick pinata.  The blade skitters across the ground to Shadowfall's boots, and he picks up the weapon.

"Nobody threatens me with death."  He says simply before returning to his work.
