WouldYouKindly
Hello all,I'm new to this forum, but I've been playing for about a week so far. Loving this game! The highest day I've gotten to was 42.Anyway, I just want to know where you guys like to set up your base camp? Do you set up near the pigs, or where there are lots of rabbit holes or beefalo? Or is there somewhere even better?Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Bogpad
I usually explore till I find a spot near beefalo that has rabbit holes, that's where I place my basecamp, everything else is of second priority for me. Silvador
The first thing I try to do is find berries and carrots. Along the way I grab plenty of grass, twigs and flint. I usually just settle for an axe at first and chop one or two trees at most. I then find a good location with plenty of rabbits and try to drop at least 3 traps baited with the berries and carrots I've collected. I usually hang around restocking the traps until night comes and then set up a basic camp fire and eat some meat my first night, leaving the berries and carrots for baiting purposes. If I can find a good amount of berries and/or carrots and a well populated rabbit location, I can set myself up with 6-10 morsels before the sun even begins to set. rash92
on my current world, there is one area with like 30 rabbit holes right next to each other, so on the first day or two i collect around 30 grass tufts, 20 saplings, 40 morsels, 10 berry bushes and a bunch of stone and flint. after that i go to the next island where there is a herd of buffalo and set up there, ten get some more saplings and grass tufts and set up a couple of farms, a few chests and the crock pot. then i go and attack some spider nests, get a ton of silk and set up some bird traps. if i run out of morsels, i'll go back to the first island to stock up on rabbit meat again. eventually i go and find the pig king, get a bunch of gold and make the golden axe/ shovel. flumi1994
I always look for a Beefalo camp first for infinite manure for my turbo farm plot's (:Ofc. u can always look for a Pig and feed him with berries (he gives 1 manure after feeding 1 berry) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/2375-what-do-you-look-for-before-making-a-base-camp/#findComment-19269 Share on other sites
xandru8
well i think like moust here the rabbit holes are the priority but i look for a well grassed place as well if you can get those 2 combined then youre pretty much settled to start a firm base and for me i need 3 base camps one the starter near rabbit and grass then near beefalo and stone and the pig king Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/2375-what-do-you-look-for-before-making-a-base-camp/#findComment-19277 Share on other sites
Arrow Del
I tend to make three base camps, in the world I am playing in, the pig king is actually quite near the rabbits, so that is where I made my first base camp, then all I had to do was scrounge enough rocks to make a second camp and moved it to the OTHER end of the rabbit field for full moons. I've also found the beefalo in my world so I'm now working on finding enough rocks to make a fire ring near them as well. 501105
I also choose for the rabbit and beefalo combination, it is great for a constant source of manure and morsels, though the beefalo sometimes think it is okay to sleep on my farms. 501105
I hardly ever shave them, since I already have a beefalo hat and it is not that handy. Fiendish
Like most I generally look for rabbit holes, although I haven't really been taking into account beefalos. I probably should haha Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/2375-what-do-you-look-for-before-making-a-base-camp/#findComment-19767 Share on other sites
Corvuz
there are two locations i like to start off with my first base camp, allthough i build a base camp on pretty much every island just so i can travel everywhere without getting caught in the darkthe prime location is the beefalo rabbit hole combo where i move some berry bushes to so you have manure for farms, berries for bait and if you plant some grass and twigs and trees you basically can stay here forever until you have enough resources to go exploringanother good location is near tallbird nests since the tallbird egg cooked above your campfire is a treat way too good to pass up on, half health healer and a good stomach fillerif i start off on either location i try to get basecamps on every island in what seems a good spot with allready quite some resources nearby and preferable near the middle of the island, allthough i take spider nests into account, if there are plenty of them i tend to stay clear so i dont have to kill them all off straight away and move them to another location Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/2375-what-do-you-look-for-before-making-a-base-camp/#findComment-19769 Share on other sites
