Wigfrid was the sovereign until Wendy's rework. After that, no other rework or skill tree took the throne away from Maxwell's niece. Even if it's temporary, the WX-78's legacy with its skill tree is impressive.

Best skilltree.

Personally I'd say it's the more so the most casual friendly. You can remove passive sanity loss and even convert it to passive sanity gain passively, get boosted stats in what you struggle with most, total darkness immunity, getting full stats from rotting food without penalties even from normally harmful foods, the ability to convert rot into food, the ability to passively recruit followers and tend to crops, drones That can map the world for you while you sit at base, a drone that can send things anywhere you want in the world at a cheap cost, total immunity to winter, immortality if you don't die too often(not gonna include the shadow alignment because I'm speaking strictly casual experience) and this is just speaking of easily accessible curcuits and skills that don't require special efforts. If Wendy is picked because of how lax she makes the experience Wx suddenly becoming more popular makes all the sense in the world as he removes all the concerns the average player would have.

Yes the WX update was stellar, but i don't think its fair saying its because his skill tree is better than the others, his update was actually a character rework 2.0, the 21 slots alpha-beta-gamma separation and new gamma circuits are the ones doing the heavy lifting, accompanied by the amazing tree of course.

10/10 update.

I just checked the stats myself and... LOL

You cant beat wendy, just as expected

Hurts seeing my favorite character in dead last, Warly's skill tree cannot come soon enough.

Meanwhile Wes players are being picked apart by buzzards in the desert. I REALLY hope they don't make his skilltree a massive joke or just make him even harder.

your fault for liking warly tbh (joke, kind of..) why do you like warly? well, actually i know, cuz of his spices and unique dish effects. The reason i don't play him is cuz his downside is very cumbersome, i don't wanna think about losing food value from eating 3 pierogies or not being able to eat cooked cactus and mushrooms, also i'd rather die than do a farm that isn't self feeding because he asks for asparagus and garlic and he has no farming perks.

Not that impressive consider the update is for WX-78 only. People hop on to see what change in the game and all about it is wx-78, ofcourse the player count for wx gonna soar.
If the skill tree was not for only Wx but also for Wes for example, with the same quality, the throne would've never been broken.

I actually play him because I like the incentive to eat diverse crock pot dishes that his downside offers. The spices and dishes are nice, though.

probably the worst reason to play warly i could come up with.. what the hell

you do you, but i'm being honest.

I don't get why it's so confusing.

Food for most characters is braindead. Pierogi meatball meatball meaty stew, pierogi pierogi, meatball. There, that's the entire diet for almost the whole cast on a standard playthrough.

Warly's food memory downside encourages you to shake things up and learn some of the many, many, many other recipes that exist in the game. It gives you a reason to use foods other than the cheapest ones that fill decent stats like you normally would. You can even ignore the hunger side of his food memory completely if you just make meaty stews (or tall Scotch eggs) and let your hunger get very low before eating two in a row, basically waiting out the food memory reset timer, but it really comes in when you're trying to heal during a boss fight, because those +40 HP pierogis won't be restoring enough to be worth it after the third bite, so you might want to swap to trail mix or fish sticks or surf 'n turf.

It adds challenge and nuance to the "Don't Starve" part of Don't Starve.

I can really relate to that.

I think Warly has one of the best downsides in the entire cast.
Not only does it encourage the player to engage more deeply with the games content, but it also ties in beautifully with his upsides. To me, its a remarkably well designed character trait even if some of its impact was diluted in the transition from single player Don't Starve to DST.

Food mods are also some of my favorites to use, because I genuinely enjoy the process of figuring out what to cook next based on the ingredients I have on hand.

I even made a (private) mod where foods only retain 70% of their base health/sanity/hunger value upon being cooked, with the rest of the final value being inherited from a fraction of the food value of the ingredients used in the crockpot recipe, making choosing different ingredients with the same tag have an impact on the food made. It has made the whole cooking system feel even more rewarding for me personally.

I honestly cant wait to see what klei comes up with for his skill tree.

the quality of the recent skill trees has got me really hyped!

That private mod sounds extremely interesting. Is there a reason you're keeping it private?

Long Story Short, i was in the middle of developing several mods for Don't Starve Together when a major event in my country several months ago resulted in a total internet blackout that only recently ended.
The mods I was working on included a WoW addon style DPS meter for tracking player damage to entities and bosses (for those who enjoy a bit of friendly competition during boss fights), a client side food recommendation system that suggests recipes based on available ingredients in your inventory and opened chests (similar to Craft Pot, but instead of just predicting the crockpot outcome, it suggest food based on the selected stat sorted from highest to lowest based on on hand ingredients) and a humorous expansion of the ipecac syrup functionality that makes it interact with nearly all creatures that can eat food off the ground, including players, with unique outcomes tailored to each.

Most of these mods werent fully tested or bug free enough for me to feel comfortable to release them publicly then.
But unfortunately, even now that my access to internet has been partially restored, I still have limited access to the Steam Workshop and even the game itself (difficulty connecting to klei servers), and I'm not sure how long it will take for things to return to normal.

That said, I certainly plan to make them public in the future when i feel like they are ready!

not really. some people really do thrive on restriction. i know a lot of why it is so hard to play anyone other than wes for me is because his low stats makes mob recruitment into a major strategy component, makes seeds, goodies and low-hunger recipes viable and sustainable food sources, makes it super easy to play with sanity mechanics(in both directions) and keeps me very conscious of biome hazards most people dont pay much mind to. i 100% understand why warly's cooking restrictions would be an incentivisation to play him; it keeps the player aware of things that are not part of the meta and keeps some small risk to playing sloppy while also making the player feel clever for solving the problem of needing to eat something other than meatballs and carrots

Probably data taken from people who report what characters they are playing or that have an add-on installed or something like it.

The number there is way too small when compared to the total number of concurrent players of DST, so it has to have some sort of opt-in system to gather the data from.

Dunno the details either though.
