I am very very excited to learn about all the circuit changes, the new system looks nice.

However, my attention instantly went to drones and chasis, hah. I absolutely adore those skills. They alone are enough to put WX-78 in my personal top 3. Much to test, much to try...

honestly agreed. the ability to split yourself up and tackle multitasking with different loadouts or have multiple lives for a fight is a really interesting way to tackle map-wide mobility.

The storage drone is cool, but I wish you could recall them so you don't have to go and retrieve them every time.

You can upgrade body-change-through-map upgrade and place 1 body on base and resend drones back to your main body by it. so you do not have to come back. (was hoping maxwell will be able place and remotely control shadow clones in such way)

yessssss. having a few bodies around the map is gonna be so good for multitasking, I'm already thinking up where I'd use it.

while I do see the practicality of this when playing solo in a multiplayer setting it would be nice to ship it back, recall it or move it like the scouting drones. sure it would make it similar to woby/magic box, but magic is instant and Woby is free and has no material cost albeit temporarily depriving you of a mount while.

Hardy Circuits are broken/OP. They don't just increase max health; the small ones give 5 and the large ones give 20 armor. In total, with 3 large and 1 small, you get 65 armor + 625 health. Even just having '65 passive armor' alone is game-breakingly strong.

Wigfrid has 25% armor and only 200 health. Meanwhile, WX-78 has 65 armor and 625 health, basically 1800 effective HP. Is it just me, or is this extremely overkill?

this and bean booster are cases where the highs are maybe a little too high. I imagine it will likely get reigned in. I imagine diminishing returns

wigfrid 25% comes right out of gate ( and is consider as a resistance like woodie which blocks planar as well , correct me if im wrong )

wx needs to scan nurse spiders to make them and is not day one

i would suggest nerfing it by half tho

yeah, 10% per tier-2 health circuit (or 15%/10%/5% diminishing returns kinda deal) would be fine, I think.

It is the year 2026 and the DST community still believes reviving is this Herculean task that only The Chosen Ones can Perform when there’s 4 Actually Free revives across the surface + cave maps and the most easily accessible options that don’t involve another player and avoid the max HP penalties take wood and beard hair or some gold and gems.

That's kinda proving their point though right? As you said there are plenty of revival methods already why are we making the bar even lower and when should we say it's a problem? When the default mode is just click to revive where you were with your stats maxed out and all your gear kept without any costs?

Hey everyone, a new beta has just been released!

This focus of this beta is the Skill Spotlight for WX-78.  Some skills are still marked as "Coming soon", and will be added during this beta.  Some mechanics will still go through further tuning, such as creatures lacking behavior to deal with attacks from outside their aggro range.

Instructions for accessing the beta branch can be found here.  As always, things may be changed or retuned, and we'll be looking forward to your feedback during beta.

Notes for Modders

Wx backup bodies they are not as good . the issue with them is that they limited only to 4.  I found a use for long teleportation with them. but since there too many locations with point of interest like pearl island, dragonfly desert, monkey island or more and thats excluding one for your base  .

Often times what happens is you cant take items with you ,because you are forced to teleport away and use your bots to transport your items haft was across the map just to be back at your base.. Make the number of placeable backup Bodies limitless and take the items along side with you . but increase the crafting cost of them overall.

The taser circuit rewards you too much  when taking damage and doesnt provide you any bonus damage when fighting mobs at base without taking damage, taser circuit nerf the reflect damage but give a 10 electrical damage flat on all your attacks can be affected by electric multipliers.

The zaptrocuter controller needs the overlay to be smaller. right now it covers too much of the screen and make the projectile casting faster since the area of effect is small at least make it fast.

Thanks for reading my suggestions!

Yep, you're right. It's not hard to craft, but you probably can't make the large Hardy Circuits in the first few days.
Still, you can make the small ones early on. If you plug in 7 of them, you get 35 armor + 475 HP.
As many have pointed out, either halving it or applying diminishing returns would be a great way to balance it out.

Yeah, reviving isn't hard, though it is aggravating just how easy it is to attain. Kind of diminishes the survival part of the survival game.

To me, making/using revive isn't the inherently hard cost. The real cost is needing to trek back to your corpse to recover your items. Even with options like the amulet/second chance watch/WX Backup that revive you on the spot where you died, it's still entirely realistic to perish if there's threats in the area, leading to a death loop (for WX, while you can get a skill to set your health to max, you'll respawn with no charges which means every circuit you have has zero charge and still put you at a massive disadvantage). The only one who really differs is Winona, and that's because her revive is literally /Gamerule Keepinventory True in addition to always reviving in a safe spot.

I myself don't take concern with it if the revive is unique. I think all of them except Wendy's revive (as that's quite literally a meat effigy reskin) have unique mechanics and merits to them existing. It isn't just adding new revives for the sake of it, it's adding revives that have unique use cases and versatility, and I think that's pretty understandable for a multiplayer game.

A buff for the Wx backup bodies

because at the moment they are just weak for their investment

faster transportation with inventory with no body limit count  but more expensive bodies overall

They are cheap and you can use the transport drone to take your items to the arena so no, i think the extra bodies are more to make different sets of circuits bodies depending of your need, not to make a cheap teletrasport for the robot,

I'm so confused why the comments are throwing shade, The chassis system is the coolest ability in don't starve I have ever seen and the quality of life of being able to have more circuits and have different circuits in different chassis is CRAZY. I am so hyped for this.

But when you have multiple already why not just revamp some of the existing methods instead making those more accessible if that's the goal. It just feels like it cheapen the world and the game when so many different resurrection options are running around

This. My main issue besides cheapening the game is the fact that it ruins the uniqueness of previous mechanics.

Oh wow new character Wanda and she can reviv- Proceed to add 4 more character specific revives.

Just lame IMO.

Hey Klei,

Firstly, sorry, I accidentally posted this to the "how to get into beta", forum and it belongs here. Can just remove that post or I will.

I've spent a decent amount of time with the update now and wanted to share some feedback. I have about 500 hours with WX alone done most the end game content with him several times over, etc. so this is a character I'm pretty familiar with. I've fiddled around for several hours and tried some quick playthroughs to the mid-game with several different set ups.

For starters, I appreciate a lot of the work that went into this. The custom overlay graphics for zap drone and new circuitry layout is all really neat and fun to interact with. I did experience what I suspect are a bugs during my testing so I will try to keep my feedback separate from that. Mainly, 1. the Optoelectronic circuit was not functioning and, 2. The added overshield from the Beanbooster appears to restore ALL health on tick, I am ASSUMING this is a bug because it is well, insanely strong. Like tank a whole slew of nightmare creatures in the ruins without armor on strong.

I think the main ISSUE I have with current changes is that WX is already a pretty strong and reliable character when it comes to dealing with essentially any challenge outside raw damage, and the update doubles down on this in so many ways that it starts to feel redundant. With a beanbooster circuit and hardy circuit both upgraded I now have, 1. Innate damage reduction, 2. a restoring overshield, a health pool of 275. This is fantastic because I essentially just don't need to wear armor, great for freeing up a spot to permanently use Magiluminessense. Except I also have permanent ultra-magiluminessence with 2 speed circuits and illumination circuits. I could also add a gastro circuit on top of this to put my hunger up over 200 just to really get back to the old WX days, and then some. I'm not sure this will be a popular opinion, I know people like power, but when I say the creep feels real with this character I think it's still a bit of an understatement. I don't think it's a stretch to say you could remove my body and head slot and I would still be able to get through the game without much issue with this character in it's current state. That is except for the one thing still held sacred from WX, damage. And here in lies the problem, and why I don't know how much people are going to care for update in current trajectory, at least in the long run. If, in the gamma circuits, wx gets even the slighest amount of increased damage, or some form of electrical damage on attacks, which I suspect is what people HOPE for, he will be the unequivocal strongest hero by a country mile. Without anything else added (gamma circuits) he already has half a dozen way to forgo any OTHER challenge the game has to offer. An infinite slot for items is awesome, bring tons of stacks of whatever I care about, except WX is already one of the best candidates for wearing the piggy back since I can use two acceleration circuits and still profit 30% speed bonus. Maybe just use it to keep a sustainable food source with high spoilage time that would be neat, except WX already doesn't care about spoilage. Even the SMALL innate perks that get overshadowed with this character are strong enough to make an impact, and we're left with a character that is master of all trades but jack of one.  A delivery drone is something half a dozen other characters would love to have access to and a huge boon but again, WX is already one of the best characters for storage and I am quite fast with the right circuits, so I don't even really need this. Surveying drones I can echo the same, although I do really LIKE these and think they are one of the better additions. Still, only Woodie in goose form can really hold a candle to what my exploration speed already is. And this is basically the story with many of these upgrades. I have so much versatility, I don't need to build half of these things, and I think it is okay to have filler, okay to have some less desirable perks, not everything has to be "best in slot" I mean frankly, WX has enough of that anyway. But it feels like a lot of effort on interesting mechanics that I think is ultimately going to go to waste for easier methods that this character already does abundantly well. There's also something to be said for character identity. I have a Wanda like teleport with extra bodies, self revive, alternative ways to deal with any seasonal hazard, temperature, etc. What Warly dish would I even care for? This is my general overview as of now, some more specific nitpicks below, I appreciate the hard effort, I do like a lot of what is on offer here, it just feels overwhelmingly strong to me personally.

Finally some perk specific things that happily I feel actually could use a little UP tuning lol, I like buffs too guys.

I am very torn on the upgraded "flashlight" beam for the illumination circuit. I like this because it is a direct nerf to just have 360 degrees of light which would be much more powerful, however, it is extremely busy. I wish I could upload a clip because just the simple task of kiting nightmare creatures around creates quite the light show which is more graphical clutter than is typical in DST that tends to be a bit more muted and reserved. Obviously making this an exact circle is a buff but this is a rare instance where I think I prefer that because the flashlight beam can be pretty headache inducing, and likely even worse with team play. I don't think this would be as big of a deal if it wasn't that it was so strong. The beam with 3 circuits is incredibly large, it extends all the way to the end of the screen and a good bit behind the character, so it is very much useable. But it is just more flickering and whirling around then I personally care for. In the very least, maybe an option to use the un-upgraded form without the beam? For the light sensitive of us out there?

The Zaptronic drone interface is super neat, this is a really cool ability that I think will have some interesting, if niche utility. But it feels a bit clunky. Movement is far from exact which I THINK is intentional? But the this combined with interacting with the remote always starting above WX, instead of the drones location, is strangely disorienting. I think this just needs some fine-tuning. It is okay being clunky and maybe should be, but it feels all-together difficult to use in ways that kind of fight against the player.

I do not echo the others that have said the bottom left 4 perks are useless filler. They ARE pretty much filler, but if anything I think this character needs that, and they've been very useful in testing. I am however, a little disappointed that a "Bio Scanalyzer" scan time reduction filler perk is not present. I'm pretty sure this is an easy node that doesn't need to be incredibly strong to soften some of the others that are so powerful, and this is an easy thing people have generally wanted for Jim to be a bit quicker. Alternatively a Jim movement speed bonus would equally do the trick for those annoying rabbits. Some of these filler perks should probably be added behind the incredibly strong circuit and body double perks too, but I know others may not like that so moving on to other buff suggestions.

And finally, OF those filler perks, I think the "Right to Modify" may just about be the most useful, unfortunately still useLESS in current state. Players will often stack their circuits specifically to avoid losing the most important ones if I do happen to incidentally get wet, starve, etc. I REALLY think this needs to be made to keep the circuits in place, instead of dropping down. It's a neat perk that does offer some quality of life that is quite takeable. If I, for example, place an optoelectronic sensor below an acceleration circuit because I am happy to lose my movement speed bonus before losing my light source and likely dying, and I decide to switch this out in winter for a heat circuit, I am going to feel the same way about that. I essentially need to remove all of the circuits anyway because I am consciously choosing to forgo thermal stones or other significant heat sources by choosing this circuit, it can't fail. So, if to keep this protected I need to remove everything anyway, I may as well just not take this perk.

I will add, as some have dug into the code and found some "potential" circuits, don't know how sure these are. I REALLY think WX needs to remain weak to being wet. It is his ONLY downside and while an early autumn rain or getting sprinkled in the caves during a long run back from the ruins IS frustrating, we already have ways to deal with that. And I don't think his only true weakness should be modified.

Thanks for your efforts, I appreciate the hard work. A lot of this is really neat and I'm sure I'll love it when it is refined whatever it ends up being.

really don't see it as such, especially when the character respawn options typically revolve around the character's personality/make sense in their context. I think it makes it more distinct to have unique character revives than every single character holding a life giving amulet or using meat effigies to revive.

I don't really see how especially when it's been established that the survivors share their knowledge and teach each other how to do things. At the rate things are going I wouldn't be surprised if we see Maxwell come out of tophat to revive and Webber just grow his body from another wandering spider. Yea it's neat to see characters having their own methods but it feels incredibly cheap at this point it was special when Wanda did it because it was a one of a kind addition but this is now just another case of characters blurring together style over substance if you will

I am overjoyed my bot is getting some love.

Some suggestions:

The most important suggestion I have is that I think chassis count should either be doubled, tripled, or completely uncapped. As a megabase enjoyer, one of the main draws for the chassis for me is that I will be able to have a bot at each boss location so when the time of year comes around that I need to clear that boss for its drops, i can stop whatever I am doing, drop into the chassis and get to work. As it stands with only 4 possible chassis, I would have to not only be very selective with which bosses or tasks I give this treatment, but I would be taking away from my ability to have chassis to swap out for anything else.

I think in terms of just cool factor it would be awesome to have chassis do things without directly being controlled by you. Even if its just something like having them get up and dance

I would love to see a shadow circuit that similar to the spacializer adds an inventory slot that is a shadow inventory shared across all of your chassis. I know this could seem redundant with the delivery drone, but I personally don't think I will be using the delivery drone unless it is global and instant (which a shadow circuit would make more sense for).

I have not booted up the beta yet, so this could already be the case, but I would love it if chassis retained the skin that WX was wearing when they made the chassis rather than update based on swap outs. This would allow us to have themed chassis for certain biomes etc. (for what it is worth, it would also get me to buy a **** load of WX skins :) ).

I have a feeling that there are going to be people who point out that the additional circuit space and effects are too "overpowered", but I would like to point out that the great thing about this game is that everyone has a different idea of what is challenging, what is annoying, what is awesome, etc. Personally for me managing seasons and light is a challenge that I like at the beginning of the game, but I wish would go away as the game progresses so I can focus on long term plans. (This is why I fell in love with WX to begin with)

Right now Scrappy werepig doesn't reward the player for fighting him all that much if they haven't gone down the celestial champion path yet. It would be really cool if you could get a unique circuit from defeating him, (maybe even just a way to get the spacializer circuit pre-moonstorm).

A Remote Dock Worker skin for WX as a reference to your other awesome game oxygen not included!

Luck Circuits?

A warly specific dish made with gears or scrap intended for only wx

The ability to repair circuits, either with scrap or winona tape.

Super excited for this update!
