Kacpert25
So, after writing a few posts dedicated to one topic, it's time for a post about the entire beta. Flash/Deep Freeze Staff: Increased freezing power is generally okay. But if it's the only upgrade for an ice staff, it's pretty boring. I think it would be interesting if Deep Freeze Staff also had an aoe freezing. The aoe freezing would apply half less freeze as the main projectile and have a range roughly as follows: Additionally, to avoid making ice staff upgrades too OP, their freezing power could be slightly reduced. I also think that one blue gem should be added to the Deep Freeze Staff crafting. Its graphics clearly show that it consists of two gems instead of one. Spoiler Besides, if the Deep Freeze Staff had aoe freezing, increasing its cost would be a good idea. And finally, I hope that since Flash and Deep Freeze Staff are upgrades of the Ice Staff, they will be compatible with its skins. Dessicant Pouch/Sack: From what I've checked, both items have a relatively short lifespan, as after absorbing probably around 100 points of soaking, they become soaked and stop absorbing water. Additionally, once they're soaked, they can't be dried. I don't know if this is a bug or an intended mechanic. But if this is how it's supposed to work, the Dessicant Pouch and Sack should definitely be able to absorb more soaking points. Because they don't seem very useful right now. On a different note, I think the Dessicant Pouch/Sack should be given the ability to disable regrowth, since these items are powdered salt in a bag. I explained this idea in more detail in my post: Spoiler As for ideas not mentioned in post above, I'd add that the Dessicant Pouch would be consumed 100% after being used on the ground. And the Dessicant Sack would have 3 uses. So that upgrading Puch to Sack would be profitable. Salty Dog's Hat: The mob is funny, and it's nice that it gives you some salt. But other than that, it's no different from Polly Roger's Hat. The hat's durability is the same, the health amount is the same, range is the same, and the speed is the same. If it weren't for the salt production, it could just as easily be a skin for Polly Roger's Hat, not a separate item that's an improved version. Salty Dog should stand out for more than just producing salt. For example: -Greater range, -No running away from cookie cutters (Polly has a mechanic for running away from aggressive creatures. This is to avoid her death from these creatures), Since Salty Dog is connected to salt, he shouldn't be afraid to get close to cookie cutters. They can't harm him in water anyway. -Harvesting resources from seedlings (grass, berries, twigs, etc.), -Harvesting barnacles from sea weeds without aggroing them, Building New Structures Anywhere: As @JazzyGames already touched on in his post, there's no reason for most structures to be limited to the Pearl's house area. Spoiler At least the Combriner shouldn't be limited. I don't think it's necessary to constantly go to the Pearl every time you want to craft a salt items. Have the Pearl sell the Combriner blueprint for 10 empty bottles so the player can place it in their base next to their chests. Furthermore, I think the Combriner shouldn't immediately unlock further crafting once the required decor level is reached. Instead, the Pearl should unlock an upgrade for the Combriner that unlocks further recipes. The Pearl Decoration System Should Also Work on Lunar Island: I understand why it doesn't work on Moon Quay Island. Because no player would want a Pearl so far from the mainland. But not having this work on Lunar Island is just sad. Many players probably have it connected to the mainland via docks. And some of them probably also want to have (or have), a Pearl on Lunar Island. But because of this restriction, they can't. So, removing this restriction would be welcome by players. Oh, and here's a link to @viblym post, where he/she first raised this problem: Spoiler Hanging Wind Charms on Trees: In the last patch, they added the option to hang wind charms on trees planted in the festive tree planter. However, I think hanging them shouldn't be limited to the event. They look really amazing on trees. Therefore, they should also be able to be placed on regular trees that aren't planted in the planter. Spoiler Hanging them wouldn't require any interface. Simply clicking on the tree with the wind charm would allow it to hang in a random spot on the tree. A maximum of three wind charms could be hung. They would also be able to be removed by clicking on the tree with the mouse. Pearl's Light Post Color Should Be Changed with Clean Sweeper: Pearl's Light Post has several color variations. Their color is random when are place. Spoiler So, adding the option to change their color with a clean sweeper would be a good idea. In fact, it could even be an option to choose the color of Pearl's Light Post during crafting. Just like with Wind Charm, for example. Spoiler Renewable Socks and Shorts: We now have items like Socks and Shorts that we can hang on Pearl's house and winter's feast trees. And from what I understand, they don't seem to be renewable in any way. Furthermore, they can be burned in the Dragonfly's Furnace. So, it's easy to lose these items. Spoiler That's why I'm proposing a simple and fun idea for making them renewable. Let there be a small chance that we'll get Socks and Shorts from Pearl's bundles. Of course, Socks and Shorts would only be available in the bundle drops pool after upgrading Pearl's house to level 5. More Plants You Can Dry: A tea made from dried cactus flowers is a rather obvious idea. So it should definitely be added. The second suggestion is quite absurd, though xD Namely, dried brightshade husks. A tea made from such dried husks could add some planar buffs. Foliage and Lune Tree Blossom Tea Slight Buff: The teas received a really good buff and seem to finally be useful. However, the effects of Foliage Tea and Lune Tree Blossom Tea seem a bit mediocre. So they could receive some more. For example, both could reduce agro range of shadow/lunar creatures. Giving Pearl a Critter Should Be Available From Beggining: You can now give Pearl a critter. However, this is only available after relocate her home. Spoiler In my opinion, this option should be available from the beginning. This would then be a new quest you can do for her. This would finally give critters a purpose beyond being decorative. I'm not mentioning the Mothling's glow, as I'm talking about critters in general. Leafy Jerky: Since fish meat has received its own unique jerky, only Leafy Jerky is missing to complete the set. They would provide 12.5 hunger, 25/30 sanity, and 5 hp. And they would dry 1.5 times longer than regular jerky. The Pool of Items Stored by the Salt Box Should Be Expanded: Since the update is partially focused on salt, the salt box should also receive a minor change. Namely, its scrapbook description states that it can hold food ingredient items. However, some items, despite being used to cook dishes, can't be stored in salt box. Spoiler These include: Spoiler -Cactus Flower, -Forget-Me-Lots, -Lichen, -Birchnut, -Butterfly Wings, -Moon Moth Wings, -Lesser Glowe Berry, -Glow Berry, -Honey, -Royal Jelly, -Butter, -Voltgoat Milk, -Milky Whites, It's really strange that you can't store honey or cactus flower, since they are required for cooking some dishes. So it would be good to improve this and allow the listed items to be put into the salt box. Some Containers Should Receive Unique UI Art: The current update adds (not counting color variants of Pearl's Light Post) 4 new structure containers, and each of these containers has its own unique UI apperance. Spoiler This got me wondering how many containers with unique UI apperance there are in the game. Spoiler And yes, I'm going to show all/most of them XD As you can see, there are quite a few. And I think that since we already have so many containers with unique UI art, some of the older containers could be updated with new UI arts in the future. For example, Chester, Battle Call Canister, Portable Crockpot, or others. Spoiler Mutated Birds: @Pumking7 made a good point about them in my post about mutated birds. Spoiler 1: A mutating bird will always transform into a Moonblind Crow. And indeed, it does. No bird ever mutates into a Misshapen Bird. Spoiler 2: Every bird mutates into a Moonblind Crow. Which looks a bit odd. Because, for example, a puffin mutates into a bird that doesn't look like it. So it would be useful to add variants of mutated birds so that they match the appearance of the bird they mutated from. Perhaps they couldn't even be variants, but new mobs with different attack methods. For example, one could apply the sleep effect. And it would be cool if bird bodies falling into water didn't drown, but floated instead. Spoiler Varglet Should Be Able to Eat Meat: Hounds eat meat, varg eat meat. So varglet should too. More Corpses Revealing Their Skeletons When Eaten: Koalefant corpse now works consistently with the corpse we find when tracking Varg. That is, when eaten by Lunar Buzzards, its skeleton is gradually revealed. This makes Koalefant the only creature whose corpse changes as it's eaten. Spoiler This is really, really cool. So I hope that in the future, other creature bodies will also reveal their skeletons (or other body contents) when eaten. Because while the current iteration of Crystal-Crested Buzzard is a awful mob, the corpses mechanic promises to be something truly amazing, and I can't wait to see it developed further So, that's it. Thank you for reading this post. I hope there's still time to implement some of the proposed changes in this update. 10 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/ Share on other sites
Dingle
The dessicants can only be dried by burning objects or a regular campfire, no other heat source. Seems like a bug. It would be cool if the salt bin could store jerky and dried kelp. I really want the pet to be worth a friendship point, and before rehoming. I would also like the driftwood rocking chair to be worth a point. Someone brought up the idea of having the staff upgrades extinguish fires in an increasing aoe depending on upgrade. If this was done, I'd use them. I also like the idea I saw of being able to upgrade the cooling amulet. I'm surprised the cooling tea uses succulents. I just assumed it used cactus flowers, at first. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/#findComment-1845216 Share on other sites

Pearl has several major flaws in context of general gameplay but one of her biggest is there is very little reason to return to her after completing the Crab King questline. This is made worse after collecting every blueprint for her items, making her only purpose as a way to amass broken shell pieces. While Pearl currently has the tea stand I don't mind having more items centered around her to give her more purpose post-Crab King, especially since the combriner gives us more Pearl content between Crab King kill and Pre-WARBOT. I would not mind if we could place the combriner outside of Pearl's domain, but purely as a decorative piece. When placed away from Pearl's housing it would not offer any recipes and just look pretty. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/#findComment-1845219 Share on other sites
reddocc
I think the saltbox is consistent enough it doesn't seem to admit anything that is not natural fruits, vegetables, meats, the only thing I find inconsistent is the glowberries as it's possible to store nightberries despite as being a weird mixture of fruit and living thing, just like glowberries. the only difference between the two is that you can't cook glowberries, but in that case birchnuts should be able to be stored as well Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/#findComment-1845220 Share on other sites
Jakepeng99
You should separate some stuff so it’s easier to give feedback. i agree on giving her a pet before the endgame. Pep61
I'd add an extra change, Adding a bottle trade for the the sawhorse blueprint.... that thing has been bugged from getting more that one since the begining Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/#findComment-1845254 Share on other sites

This is because the drying mechanic is taken directly from beeswax, which also only melts in these conditions. I tried bug reporting it, since it is quite strange and confusing for a lot of players to the point people just think it doesnt work at all. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169053-pearlsmas-beta-feedback/#findComment-1845275 Share on other sites
