Hello,

The chilled amulet is often a forgotten about magic item, which costs a blue gem and three gold, and for a good reason.

The main utility from the amulet comes from its ability to cool down player temperature while wearing it. This is often worse then using a thermal stone as the amulet does not hold the current temperature unless wearing it for its six minute duration, where a thermal stone's heat reduction lasts as long as it is cold. The secondary usage comes from it freezing enemies upon an mob attacking the player, and lasting for 33 enemy attacks. This is quite hard to utilize as the durability decreasing overtime also means it constantly decreases the amount of attacks it can take. The fact that each freeze is worse than a ice staff makes the amulets freezing abilities very pathetic.

This beta now allows the ice staff to be upgraded into an ice staff that requires less hits to freeze enemies. The chilled amulet, the blue gem necklace, did not receive this enhancement. To make the chilled amulet less weak and have a wider utility here are some ideas for salt upgrades it could receive.

  • Improving the freezing functionality
  • The freeze-to-hit ratio can be increased (It already should be higher than a ice staff at baseline for using a [ranged weapon > getting hit])
  • The amount of attacks it can withstand can be increased, or make it an infinite amount since the item already runs on a six minute timer
  • The freezing upon hit ability could be made Aoe
  • The freeze could be more potent depending on damage taken, a bee would barely freeze itself where a bearger would almost be frozen over
  • Improving the chilling functionality
  • The amulet could cool down the player faster
  • There could remain a small buffer window added when removing the amulet to not increase temperature
  • The cool down effect could be made aoe, for other players to cool down too
  • Increase the player's sanity depending on how cold they are with 0 bringing the max rate
  • Allow a maxed out chilled amulet to easily bring the player's temperature to below 0, for assisting in the fight against W.A.R.B.O.T.

Please let me know of any suggestions you have for the chilled amulet I would love to hear if anyone has any great ideas!

Also playing around with the salty ice staff today and noticed that it does not extinguish in a area only for the singular item still when its on fire. If salty ice staffs could get an aoe on their extinguishing effects it would be amazing for late-game ranged fire protection.

It would be amazing if salty chilled amulets could get a small aoe extinguishing effect that consumes durability, and has a higher range at bigger upgrades too.

Agree. I think the real problem with chilled amulets is that they occupy the body slot while thermal stones do not. If you give up backpacks, armors or clothes for them, you should get something stronger in exchange, for example, longer duration or aoe cool down effect.
