it looks like an early unfinished test biome and literally all of its features are either redundant or can be put into other biomes

the meteors could be added to the rocky biome, the tallbirds and grass geckos could be moved into the savannah, same with the pet cave, and the krampus sack and deer having a chance to spawn in it kind of just makes finding it more annoying

like i mean its not actively making the game worse but i am very surprised that klei hasnt either gotten rid of it or updated it to be a little bit nicer to look at

I'm against removing it, but agree that it looks like a mess. The turfing in it really confuses beginners too, they don't know what biome its supposed to be.

"Mosaic" as a name makes sense for what it is, but adding a new turf that is also mosaic-looking would be welcome and a nice way to solve that problem.

I wouldn't mind if Klaus Sack and No-Eyed Deers were removed from it, everything else I like that it is on the mosaic since it makes it simple to find, knowing it will always be connected to the spawn biome.

Now one biome I would agree wholeheartedly should be removed is the second deciduous. I hate that thing ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

I think that's kind of the point, maybe even with some lore implications with the wacky world of DS. I think this sort of randomness gives a lot of wiggle room to add random things to the biome in the future. I like the area it's pretty cool.

It's a nice mix of resources, conveniently always located next to the starting biome. That's the purpose.

I do like the idea of not having deer and the klaus sack spawn there, though. Those can be annoying to find, even just in the pig king biome.

The rocky biome is an optional biome, not guaranteed. That would kind of lead into many changes, if you were to remove the mosaic.

And the most important features of the mosaic biome imo, are the gold boulders and the graveyard, plus the fact that it always generates next to the starting biome.

This is also the most likely place to find flint, if you're arriving late on a public server.

I really like the mosaic and how it functions.

I like mosaic cause it adds a lot to the game. A new player joined in a middle of Aautumn when and can't find a single piece of flint to craft a pickaxe? Mosaic with its falling meteors will be of great help. You can also receive some cobblestone roads w/o crafring here, find food, and all-in-all, it's pretty self-sustainable biome if you limit your choince by living here.

However it's true, I want rocky and savanna biomes to become more alive, just hope it won't be for the cost of losing mosaic.

I simply hate the meteors in this biome, they always fall near the portal. Almost every map I create has the mosaic biome near the portal. Whenever that happens, I reset it immediately 😠 The further away the better, and I don't even create a base near the portal. I simply don't like him '-'

the Suspicious Boulder to find the Celestial Orb is pretty vital, to upgrade the Postern/Portal & enable character-switching

i do kinda resent the Pet Den being in such a chaotic biome, not being able to store relevant items at the Pet Den is just so frustrating to meeeee .. maybe Pet Den moved to the second Deciduous Forest?
And/or, remove the 2nd Deciduous Forest, and add patches of Deciduous-ness to the Mosaic Biome?

Second deciduous is an optional biome, that would make so it HAS to spawn on the world gen or you wouldn't have a pet den. do not do that to me please 😭

If we are moving it anywhere, move it to the savanna it has like 2 things going on in it

Here’s an idea: Klei needs to update randomly generated worlds so that they are much more randomly generated. DS & DST are two very different games when it comes to World Gen.

In DS for example, you can have smaller biomes spawn in the center of larger biomes (such as a small forest oddly in the swamp biome)

In all my years of playing DST, I have NEVER seen a smaller biome spawn in the Savannah for example.

As someone who plays RogueLites/Roguelikes & games like “Labyrinthine” the More Random: The Better!

But meteors are great source of stones and if you plant trees there, you'll also get logs) I love basing near meteors because of that, just move ~5 tiles away.

? ...the 2nd DForest wouldn't be optional anymore, bc it would finally have a unique feature: the Pet Den

I still wish 2nd Deciduous had something unique to it that made it feel more appealing... Like, it's still a useful biome for new players, but it would be nice if there was something more to it.

It not being a guaranteed-to-spawn biome certainly limits what it can have, but I still think it would be nice if it had something cool and unique to it~

silly nonsense

Yes, making it so that every world is guaranteed to have a big empty biome that's just a copy of the Pig King forest without the Pig King for literally no reason is silly nonsense. I agree with that. World generation would be so boring with that pointless change.

the directon you've taken this in, just isn't what i had in mind, and isn't what i'd have said if asked to expand on the idea. it's a curious thing, to assume you can accurately describe someone else's idea :wilson_flower:

is a biome designed to quickly let player arm them self before the first night falls, it has gold and flint  to pick to let u get started

That's your entire idea. You haven't said anything else.

It's useful and brings enough resources for everyone. Plenty of basics and good lazy way to get treeguards by planting trees there overtime.

If it's an old test biome I think it simply works to keep for all the resources it brings and it's iconic to be hated to base, being a trap for newbies to base there and a generation that simply good for everyone in early game.

If I were to make any changes to the Mosaic, I'd probably first and foremost make it more obvious in the first few days of the world where meteor territory actually is. I've played the game for over ten years now, and I still fall victim to accidentally building an entire base in the Mosaic before the first meteors spawn.

As for the False Deciduous, here's an idea for it: if it spawns, simply make it guarantee a Klaus set piece and the Rock Den.

The Triple Mactusk already guarantees the location of the Stageplay if it spawns, so just do that. That way, instead of being an annoying hindrance to exploration, it actually provides a guaranteed location for points of interest. Even better, if the Rock Den spawns there, then you can reliably tell within the very first day if the False Deciduous spawned because the Rock Den won't be in the Mosaic! It all fits nicely together.
