I'm going to be very straight to the point because I'm consumed by the GWD post lol and I'm very very very very very excited about the new changes on Ruins AND Lunar Archives generation. There is SO MUCH to talk about it.

I think Klei has the right hearts but confused way to where to go.

First, THANKS Klei that the dungeon with the tentapillar that leads to the Atrium was a placeholder. Thanks thanks thanks. Definitely a big improvement, compared to plain fallen forests with bunnymen and plain bat caves deserts. 10/10.

I think the new biome with boulderbough trees should be in the Ruins and should have nightmare fissures OR BETTER YET (thanks to @astareus) --> It makes much more sense that we can explore this new biome BEFORE the ruins, and then have a way to go to the ruin in a different part of the map similar to what we could do in original DS, where there was a second pluggled sinkhole that lead to the ruins. This right now Klei is a PERFECT opportunity to make this happen and also fix the issue with maps generating in all random ways..)

Now I don't know what magical and crazy things Klei is plotting in their heads with this finale, but I suggest this because:

  1. It's linked already with shadows and Them.
  2. I don't like that with the excuse of 2015, Klei is mixing Caves and Ruins. They're and should be separated levels of the game.
  3. Good difficulty curve.
  4. It has gems trees. Although you can farm these once chopped, exploring first through a danger level such as Ruins with the reward of trees gems, it gives a lot of accomplishment, dopamine and
  5. Challenge for the (possible) Atrium, new trees and other stuff I presume.
  6. Exploration!
  7. Lore.
  8. New players. I know many people don't care or don't know, but I do and Klei should do too. Having these tough biomes at random is bad level design. Having it on the Ruins instead, gives already a good warning for new people when they touch first time those grounds.
  9. It's lava/magmatic cave! What better place if not near at the centre of the world? You know what else it's near the centre of the world and deeper than the Caves? My mom Ruins.
  10. Fumaroles are based on deep sea vents. A deep sea ambient, something Ruins have always been very inspired of.

Like, there are many points on why it should be on the Ruins OR better yet! Before the Ruins as the new entrance of it! and probably more points will come as time goes on. (See BIG EDIT also down here 👇)

Annnnddddd now that we're here, Klei....

Can we finally move all the random nightmare fissures from those random deserts in the Caves? Please? (Plus maybe push Stalagmite Terrain biome to the Ruins all together? OR see "BIG EDIT")

@Mr.Oshiro Explained these very thoroughly in his posts about Ruins. Simply put, Rocky Plains biomes (the one with rock lobsters) should not have nightmare fissures, Bat Caves deserts should not have nightmare fissures and Stalagmite Terrain is the most special here, because it has also random thulecite on the floor (yes, I'm not joking) and tons of bad spiders likkeee dangling depth dwellers!!! Just push Stalagmite Terrain biome in the Ruins Klei, please.

BIG EDIT -->    (Thanks @Beetrice!) Maybe a better idea could be also merging Stalagmite Terrain biome with Fumarole biome and put this new biome as the official entrance for the Ruins!!! Explanations down here on the post 👇 )

Here a demonstration of a new world generated. The giant red circle are the Ruins, while the blue one are the Caves. The little red x marks, are those random biomes that received random nightmare fissures that shouldn't be there. The smaller red circle is the new biome.

change1.jpg.60b395904b670275e2722c216d7b8cf8.jpg

And now for the same reasons and probably more controversial (I hope not much), the new giant whirlpool, aka the new level design for the lunar grotto. I'll say it, as many people thought and posted about it, during alllll these years since 2019.

The giant whirlpool....should be inside Lunar island (or near) and Lunar grotto should be separated from the main Caves and be accessible only through the new giant whirpool.

There I said it. Again the reasons are the same for the new biome frankly. You should be rewarded more to go at Lunar Island. Also why at random in the ocean????? The lunar grotto....is a grotto lol. With only one open passage, the Lunar Island falling on top of it from the moon.

Below an example where it should be placed the new giant whirlpool.

Please Klei.

What do you guys think? It's the perfect time to let hear our voices about these "ancient" problems (badum tss).

I'll tag @mkemal23 @Mr.Oshiro @ZeRoboButler because I remember them being the most passionate, as me, for Ruins and generation stuff.

Personally I think the whirlpool should be close to the lunar island, instead of embedded inside of the islands. It could be right off the coast.

Also, I don't know if the fumarole biome needs to be part of the ruins. It's fine as its own new biome, and I don't see how it's related to the atrium. Is it because the atrium tentacle can spawn there? Does that mean the guano biome is related to the atrium? I can see how it's connected to the ancients since the mega blight was a companion to them I guess.

This statement won't make any sense but this is probably the closest thing to a third shard server / ocean shard the game is going to get. I hope there will be more ways of going to and between different places mysterious places, including traveling to randomly generated temporary instances and dungeons:D

I mean it’s not even dangerous biome. It needs more stuff pre riff.

That's EXACTLY what should happen, it makes much more sense that we can explore this new biome BEFORE the ruins, and then have a way to go to the ruin in a different part of the map similar to what we could do in original DS, where there was a second pluggled sinkhole that lead to the ruins. EDIT: if I didn't explain it very well, it goes like this: use the new teleport assets from that underground/underwater moon place similarly but in this new biome, and then have the player jump to the monkey villages and the ruins in a different part of the map with enough space.

I made a map this beta and the biomes are all intertwined, the bee queen spawned outside of her biome and a bunch of setpieces were weirdly placed like the charlie theather being in the dfly desert and the flower hound setpiece in the other side of the map, so I assume one would have to go all the way there to get the masks for the piece.

Like seriously, this would fix issues like these, imagine playing 100 days and then finally deciding to explore the caves only to have the worst generation possible? image.png.443d610ee10e38229b9cf39ceb81fef1.png

the new biome is like a swamp. its very easy to leave (its even less dangerous cuz overheating damage is not massive bursts like tentalces are)

Near it's fine by me! Added to the post!

Wait wait. Am I confused or you're confused about it? I thought and it seemed to me, Atrium is now officially on the new biome. I made three worlds. Two in survival, one in creative. 3 on 3, Atrium was always there, on the new biome.

Maybe it's still luck based and I was unlucky? (which in my opinion is frankly ugly) We should inform ourselves on this.

Btw you gave me more strong points about the new biome being on the Ruins lol. Added to the post.

Well obviously as of now it's not the most dangerous thing ever but for new players, keeping your coolness off for the heat, costant darkness, avoiding getting crushed by the new trees and (again don't know if it's luck based) discovering the Atrium it's a big deal for them. It's certaintly not a walk in the park!

Somebody here said they had the Atrium tentacle spawn far outside of the fumarole biome, so it might just be a chance (although maybe a higher chance?).

Doesn't seem likely as the Beta World I generated had the Atrium Tentacle quite far off from the new Fumarole Vent Biome.

Fumarole Biome all the way above in the image.

YOOOOOOO!!!!! Never thought about it!!!! True!!! I love it, I love it, I love it!!!! Mega added to the post!

Oooohh, oh oh oh oh. I absolutely get it very well. See that's why it hurts me the new generation on together with caves and ruins. @Mr.Oshiro know it too well. I have always participated on criticize heavily Klei on this. It's one thing 2015 when they made the transition, less money, less developers and first time a multiplayer game. It's another now on modern times. Unacceptable. That should not happen. This is the best time for Klei to fix it once and for all.

I believe these photos are from the beta. You wanna see my big collection of mega drunken Ruins since 2017? Lol.

Ye ye ye, but same response for Jakepeng. Also imagine those three treats + some few nightmare fissures!

Oh....

Well, points reduced. Time to take strong measures.

Can we have the dungeon for the Atrium officially spawning 100% on the new biome, Klei??? Pleasseeeee

cute-face-puss.gif.1e3ea7ffcb107490ac097ce29b5b42b7.gif

Finger crossed that Klei will fix this problem  🤞

To imagine Caves without random nightmare fissures. Ruins starting now with the new biome as the official entrance, all eerie and calm, but very hot because we're deeper than the Caves and near almost at the centre of the world (another point added to the post btw), with boiling lava and steamy radioactive atmosphere, the entrance to the Atrium with the tentapillar sticks out at its centre, the Stalagmite Terrain being in the Ruins now with terrible spiders and nightmarish shadows. The lunar grotto and archives detached finally from the main Caves and now accessible only through the new giant whirlpool inside Lunar Island or near it. One man can only dream....

New idea from @Beetrice added!

Combining fumarole biome with Stalagmite Biome! It's interesting, very interesting, because:

1) First, it resolves the problem of both biome missing you know, content, and so being empty. This merge would mean = Stalagmites, Fumaroles, Boulderbough trees, Caves Spiders, Dangling depth dwellers, Bat caves and Nightmare fissures, with occasional thulecites fragments.

2) The part I like more. A return to old Ds Ruins but with a new refresh distint look. What I mean by this -->

image.png.5aac3066f29b7174b9b45215dacf91fb.png

In old Don't Starve, to enter the Ruins you need to traverse first what you see in the screenshoot. Tons of stalagmites, caves spiders and bats. By merging them, this could mean we're coming at full circle, thus becoming even more perfect as the official entrance for the Ruins, as @astareus suggested!! And also this comeback will be distint from original Ds thanks to fumaroles, boulderbough trees and new turf coming up! This last cave biome, containing teasers and preparations for the next dangerous level of the game.

And sincerely I love it madly.

Bruh, what is going on in this topic. Guys, There is literally no point to go to caves except for the ruins and blue mushtree biome and now when Klei add an update to cave part itself in like AGES, you want it to get reworked so its a part of ruins??? or leads to ruins or etc… can we just have cave part of the cave be interesting at least for once? 🙉

What is this attack ad hominem?

Okay. Let's skip all the discussion and talk made here. Who cares reading am I right?

We were gaving feedback and help during the beta for the betterment of the game, where were you? I will say the monkey emoj is very fitting in this moment for you.

*Claims I used Ad Hominem*

Well… Its funny that you took it personally cus I haven’t even mentioned anyone specifically in my comment. Lastly, where were I? I dunno sleeping eating and etc, why that should bother you? Just cus I didn’t provide any commentary in the first nanosecond of update going live doesn’t exclude me from commenting on it, moreover, just because I didn’t suggest anything “new” doesn’t mean that me pointing out flawed ideas is now prohibited. But oh well, I guess I go back to my monkey business 🙊🐒
