Sorry for going off-topic, but do yo think about a poll about the overall “Hostile Takeover” update? I’m curious what people see as the pros and cons of Crab Island, Scion, and the new Lunar Hail. I’m also wondering if I’m the only one who feels the update needs a bit more cook, for example about Warbler.

You don’t have to poll the electrical fire. 100% of people around the world must just flip that the bird of course.

Wormwood because mushrooms, although unlike normal mains, I only care about mushrooms to the point where I have little idea how supplemental things like his armor or blooming work.

I main Chen, because modded characters that are very simple are fun~

No option for modded characters though, so I chose the random one.

If I were to pick a non-modded character, probably Wigfrid because she has good combat and my friends are bad at combat, so it's better to pick someone that can easily kill the treeguards that they accidentally spawn.

Why can we pick several mains but only one reason

oh im a walter main for so many reasons..... He is the character that helped me break through the difficulty of combat when i reached the bottleneck with my first main. And his quotes, his "fearless" mechanic, companionship of woby, team support, his funny voiceline...

a shame you can only poll into one of the "why do you main options", I would like to imagine that there are multiple reasons as to why some would main a character. 

Story, manner of speaking and gameplay culminate really well for a lot of the character roster.

I’ve never enjoyed playing by the “meta” of a game. In fact, I love taking a build/character/etc that people say is “bad”—or that looks fun—and play it as hard as possible. So, seeing as Wilson is so hated-on sometimes, I decided to main him. I also really like Wanda and Winona, but Wilson has always appealed to me as a character, and—HOT TAKE ALERT!!—his skill tree really brought out what made him special to me.

In recent years, I haven't really focused on a "main", primarily due to breaks. Maxwell still holds a special place in my hearts but I feel that I've been slanted to feel guilty playing him because he's too strong, mostly because of the opinion of others. In more recent times, I played Walter a bunch mostly because of the slingshot, but due to one thing or another I always died. That leads me my current world as wortox. It's a lot of fun zipping around the world without a care, but at the same time it also does come with a substantial cost. Even late into the world, I find myself using most of the skills I picked some of the time like knab sack cleanup.

Initially went with WX, though I'm not sure what exactly drew me in. But I liked their upgrading mechanic, nonbinary gender (like me!), quotes, and even the smaller details like creaking when they walk. Only got further invested after their rework, and I enjoy when characters have actually relevant downsides. Big hunger and speed potential are also some of my favourite stats. Once I unlocked her, Wurt also became one of my mains, for a slightly different gameplay experience and all the power she can obtain with enough resources.

I picked the characters i liked.

Recently, WX has been added to that list. Volt circuit buff encouraged me to miss and match more, just wish the durability system didnt feel so malicious.

I mostly main Walter, but also Woodie and Willow.

Walter since, before the skill tree, he was THE underdog character. Almost everyone considered him worse than Wes. He was the first character I joined as in DST, I got the classic "terrorbeak treatment", but I saw his drawbacks as something I could challenge myself with. Eventually I grew attached to him, I learned how to really make good use of his kit, and also learned some "Walter tricks". Since he had a really low playerbase pre-skill tree, he was also a pretty niche character and that made me feel kind of special.

I also like Woodie, hes like a chill character for me. As a guy that mained druid in WoW I always liked characters that are versatile and like a "jack of all trades" with different forms and stuff.

And Willow...well I think shes fun to play, and as a child I was a bit of a pyromaniac, so theres that lol

I started as a Webber main in DS back in 2017.

November 13th, 2017.

Went on to play Woodie in DST until his refresh in 2019, then moved onto Wortox for a brief moment until I started maining Wurt after RWYS.
Then went back to Wortox briefly around 2022, then back to Wurt for 2023-2025 and then been playing Webber for most of this year.
