This was brought up in a recent thread, but the way crovus works is he is found at spawn.

For new players, or players starting the game, won’t this be so confusing?

you are met with a cheery crow who wants you to build a carnival instead of a gloomy Maxwell or something that warns you of your impending doom.

For a new player, this can distort and confuse them. They might think the goal of the game is to make a carnival or something, and sets a weird tone for the game.

My idea for a solution is… I dunno make him spawn at the pig king and pig villages? Not sure what the most elegant solution is.

This is incorrect, a non-issue and misinformation all in one.

perhaps you are making too many threads recently, you should really use the more general question threads that already exist for this.

how so? corvus DOES linger around spawn and does talk about the cawnival.

What does your response even mean? I literally just made two threads for two different subjects and have barely made any recently.

While i think that corvus spawning somewhere else like the pigking or even randomly like the wandering trader would be ok, i also think the amount of players that come to this game without knowing absolutely nothing about it is minimal

Seriously?

This isn't reddit, let's assume people are capable of understanding which game they've just bought.

they do have a point tho, i would probably make them spawn in pk so they dont confuse newer players

I'm just saying, that you can't expect people to not know the game they've just purchased.

I'm sorry but in any other situation if you purchase something, not knowing what it does or how to use it, that's user error.
There's plenty of information online, you're welcome to google something if you're unsure, you don't have to guess.

why the weird response?

Because i'm entitled to speak in the way I feel most comfortable, sorry you found it weird - It was hyperbole, I didn't think i'd need to be very direct to demonstrate a point like that.

I don't feel like debating what kind of vibe DST is supposed to put off because this isnt even vanilla gameplay. DST is not "dark and mysterious" as a primary aspect; A lot of character quotes have been revised to fit this theory. I would say it's more like "quirky and dark" which i think Corvus suffices. He would indeed be more out of place in DS, but this isn't DS.

Actual response for the people who bother to read:

Spoiler

I wouldn't exactly call it incorrect or a non-issue that Corvus could confuse newbies as I do think maybe it's possible on the off-chance this game was randomly gifted to one, one could have the misconception that the Midsummer Cawnival was notable (though Corvus never claims to be a tutorial of surviving at all.) Best case, you can easily play through the entire event in a couple of days and learn of its unremarkableness. Worst case, you somehow die from it (starving). It fits with everything else if it somehow kills you. Of course, all of that's saying you don't read the game's store page, where it doesn't mention a carnival as an objective at all. You'll eventually learn how important it is, like every other aspect in the game. The event is meant to be played by anyone, I would call plopping Corvus by portal a fair method of making it that way. The game focuses on making you discover everything on your own as well.

As much as I can see the cocktail of events that leads to this conclusion I think the average player experience would just be asking hey whats up with this crow at spawn and then the people in the public server with them would say "oh thats corvus hes event content dont mind him" or equivalent circumstance outside of the game if playing alone

I would say it it's still a non-issue, certainly not something for the devs. I don't think being gifted the game is a great argument.

If I gifted you my lawn mower and you didn't know how to work it, that's on the gifter and the giftee - I doubt very much you'd ring up the manufacturer and complain that their lawnmower is leaving you with a confusing feeling. I agree with you overall though
