Don't worry guys, as someone who was there during Griftlands' (another Klei game) early access; even if a game is doomed to die upon release, the devs should at least provide it with an appropriate ending.

My best guess is that maybe the Rotwood dev team was reduced to less people + they are working on the 8th hunt and the final boss and the devs would rather release both of these as a single package, than giving us only the 8th hunt that ends with a cliffhanger

The thing is, this game is criminally underrated imo. The quality of the game in all aspects was realized the second I booted up the game when it only had four hunts. The charm of the characters, the animation, the art style, the design, the balanced challenge that the game presents, all of these contribute to creating an amazing game- that being Rotwood. I really want this game to have massive success like DST or ONI, because I feel it deserves it. Even if development might end with the 8th and "final" hunt alongside some new characters and the remaining super frenzies, as someone who loves the game so much, and has poured over 100 hours into it, I secretly hope the game's scope can be expanded beyond 8 hunts to provide even more content and playabiltiy to an already amazing game in the form of more updates beyond the 1.0 launch. I suppose all I can do is wait and hope, even if this hope seems a little unrealistic right now.

Guys, there's no update announcement on the forum yet, but the beta branch is officially out now. You can check out the changes on the official klei discord channel. Enjoy the juicy update!

Woah!! The new changes in this update already seem awesome!! Love the new music, reworked heart system incorporating heart shards that provide specific perks, relationship system, and the overall polished UI and presentation of the game. I literally just went into the game to check this out, and am making this post about three minutes after being in the game haha! just wanted to give first impressions. I'm so excited to check out all the big new content in this update ;) Great job as always Rotwood team!!!

Edit: Just looked at the map. OMG!!! You guys have actually cooked so hard!!!! There's basically like 15 hunts in the game now, like what??? So much new content, I'm just so excited!! Now I understand why this update took so long. Wow.

The image attached below should be enough to show how much this game has changed. It's actually crazy the amount of new content this update adds.

Woah, I guess the devs had read that thread where people talked about how they could add more hunts based on the biomes seen in Rotwood's map and went "aight, bet"

Though it looks like the way this functions is that the biome gets 1-2 small hunts that end with a miniboss and then a big hunt with a regular boss. So probably no new biomes :/

Still, this should help with the game's pacing, as previously you could bulldoze through all biomes on your first attempt

agreed. it is nice that we have more mini bosses now, as it makes the hunt runs more interesting since you don't know what mini boss you'll with the randomness factor, and let me tell you, some of these new mini bosses are really hard!

I keep getting an error in the woods message during Enigmox/Bandicoot :( every time I get to this boss it crashes. I hope this is just a beta branch issue and nothing else.
