I’ve been playing a lot of non-DST games, as well as also playing Solo DS and I now understand very clearly exactly everything that DST is missing that I crave, while Klei goofs off with non-interesting stuff like the 110th major raid boss fight intended for groups to fight together.

honestly, I feel quite stupid for not realizing it earlier..

I’ve been playing a game called BQM (Block Quest Maker) and I’ve even made 3 of my own level designs for it so far (you can find under creator Mike23Ua) and the thing about this game is that there are locked doors, levers, floor pressure plates, switches that can be flipped by firing an arrow through a closed gate etc..

How does any of that relate to DST? Or well more accurately DS**?
I’ll tell you: because- The Hamlet DLC had blocked off temple entrances that required a machete to open the sealed doors, and then once inside of said temples.. you had to be careful where you or enemy mobs stepped, because you guessed it: There were pressure plate floors that when stepped on usually fired off some booby trap.

My best guess as to why Klei went all in on raid bosses and not much of anything else, is because they had no idea how to transfer all those single player functions over into a multiplayer structure and it still be fun/not annoying for everyone.

But it does make me deeply miss the way the game world was structured as more of a navigational puzzle (Solo DS adventures Mode) While with DST… it’s more just optional raid bosses you can Over-Prepare for and deal with when your ready to.

I mean, marotters are so annoying, so I'd like to have more survival content, maybe even smth challenging, but not simply annoying.

I think they are annoying in a good way. They give a kind of challenging thrill.

Its way more refreshing than something that just wants to kill you, you have more ways to avoid it now. They are also a threat to your items, so you have reasons to move them.

pls increase marotter drop rate for bottles so my industrial genocide farm is more efficient thank you

They should drop random items like tumble weeds.

I mean “skins” don’t seem to help the game either, don’t get me wrong it’s **cool** that my new BushHat skin can also double down as a skin for Berry Bushes.

But these should not JUST be skins, they’re could had been a limited amount of them in their own unique biome.. but nope it’s a skin instead!

What Klei has effectively done here is if they sold you Moon Quay Palmcone Trees as a Skin for Birchnut Trees.

I like marotters for being a diet version of beefalos with regards to hardiness and loot. Second best food source for common, non-boss mobs, infinite spawning and much less health than beefalos, enough that you can often down them before they can get a second attack in.

Marrotters don't feel like survival content to me cause they are extremely ignorable. But I do enjoy them existing just because it makes the world more full of non-boss life.

They are ignorable but I feel they do their job well in the early days I've seen people robbed of pig skin and the like by them and people debating whether it's worth it to retaliate against them not too oppressive but still leaving a impact on exploration from time to time which is good if more survival content is added.

Personally I'd love if each major biome had a unique survival based event attached.

I wish we could tame / befriend marotters so they would drop random things they find now and then.

Love otters so much ~

I agree, they should be like catcoons.

They would accept live fish.

They are ignorable if you know where they are and avoid them.

I really don't understand why over the years, countless players have asked them to add more survival content to DST, and even changing the map generation (such as islands) without adding anything new is enough to bring new gameplay, but they just don't do it.
DST was originally a game focused on exploration and survival, but now these elements have been turned into auxiliary elements on the defeating boss route by Klei.
Abandon the core gameplay of the game and focus all development efforts on combat content that is not compatible with the game system. Developers put a lot of effort into battle design, coding, and fixing bugs, but due to the nature of DST, players can easily find cheese. Even if this cheese is banned and there is another one, it is impossible to completely stop it. In the end, the game turned into something that was bad on both sides, and I really don't understand the meaning of doing so.
Klei, what are you thinking?

I believe Klei hasn't lost their touch (Marotters and rabbit king scream classic ds), but instead are doubling down on an unpopular idea hoping it becomes good. (Probably indicated by them used to always say "It will make sense later").

It is indeed a mistake to say that they did not add any new things at all, but this is really meager. The most important thing is that there is no systematic survival content, because the focus of developers' work is entirely on combat.
What is systematic survival content? For example, in winter, you need to deal with cold weather, plant growth cessation, food shortages, and long nights, while also seizing opportunities to collect seasonal resources such as blue feathers, walrus tusk, and ice to prepare for future survival.
If Klei focuses all his energy on the cave, we may be able to obtain a lava biome. It is very hot here, and you need cooling props to control your body temperature, use fire-resistant clothing and acceleration tools to avoid magma, and try to obtain a rare mineral that can make weapons or armor more durable, as well as more other resources.
Unfortunately, Klei did not do so.
