A few things.

These may have already been said, or are void because I am noob (?).

Straw rolls should last forever - or if this makes it too convenient, at least decrease the cost of crafting. The cost of crafting isn't worth skipping one night time.

Camera rotation! Picking things up from behind other objects is cumbersome.

More friends and followers - more/different ways to befriend creatures. For example the buffalo hat causes buffalo to follow you.

straw rolls should not last forever, because that would completely take out the main threat of the game, nighttime.

Their costs are so low that it only takes 2/16 max to get them, making it more than viable to use it to pass through a night. The reasons to completely pass through a night are not many anyway.

camera rotation is already in the game, use the arrow keys or if you prefer using Q and E, you might want to install this lil programm until it is implemented by the developers.

as to followers, this game is about survival, alone, stranded on an island that you don't know anything about.

you can get pigman to follow you around, these come with a cost. There are other sentient beeings mentioned already, like the monkey man, so propably, we will have more npcs to interact with later on, as of now, pigs should help you with all your needs.

oh, and the buffalo hat already has a funktion planned for it, the mechanism is just not implemented yet.

Well you already have pig men and trapping a bird (bird trap) will let you keep it as your "forever friend" (creepy smile). Kevin has already mentioned there will be a purpose for the beefalo hat, and I believe it will have to do with the implementation of baby beefalo... but that's just a guess.

As for more? A super-fun idea that was presented a while back were Munkeys, a simian counterpart to the pig men. It was mentioned that whenever you approach unfriended pig men they get startled and call you a monkey man (even when you're a girl...). So the idea was, what if there really were munkey men and they kinda looked like Wilson. Of course it was also suggested they be enemies with the pig men, so you couldn't befriend both of them at once.
